So I have $200 to spend on a new video card, I will be upgrading from an GeForce 7600 GS and I have narowed it down to 2 cards.

The Diamond HD 3870 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?mode=productreviewread&product_id=26983)

or the EVGA E-GeForce 8800 GT (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?mode=productreviewread&product_id=27704)

Radeons are crap. Well at least their drivers are. Stick with Nvidia. Most hardcore gamers do.

Care to elaborate, cos at the rate AMD/ATI is going they will take over as the new video card king.

I have a Radeon, the drivers are fine. The nVidia fan boys that have posted are just jealous that the 4850 is the best card for its price.

You can not go wrong with a Radeon 4850. It's a very, very good card at a very cheap price.

The moment I saw that delicious cake I knew it was a spy. The devious curls of icing baiting me on... I just wanted to fuck the shit out of it and call it mine.

The 3870 is almost identical to the 8800GT at the moment. Though... It did take ATI long enough to make drivers to make the 3870 reach it's potential. Frankly, if you were choosing between a 3870 or a 8800GT, the only difference now is price, and which the 3870 wins by about $50.

My opinion though, if you are willing to spend the extra $50, get Nvidia, I have always found their drivers to be of better quality and user friendly.

But, as stated before, the 4850 is a better choice than the 8800gt and the 3870, while still staying in your $200 budget.

I like how the poll is clearly in favor of the Geforce by 22 to 3, yet OP is still getting a Radeon.

Why even bother making a thread when you were going to get it all along? :err:

When the 4850 runs side-by-side with the 9800 GTX for only $169, I can see why he is going to get it.

If you notice the card I am choosing is not in the poll so out of the options in the poll the 8800 may be better but compared to the 4850 there is no contest.

when I made the thread I didn't even consider the 4850 on till some 1 ells in a different forum suggested it.

None of those, if you are going to spend anything over 150$ on a graphics card, then go higher. Mid as well right?
