Ok so pretty much my tv is gonna die soon, so i want to play my 360 on my 20 inch lcd dell monitor... ok so heres the questions and problems.

(question. is this called the poor mans hd?)

the first problem is that i don't use speakers for sound because once i wiped vista off, my motherboard doesn't support sound on xp pro. so i just use headphones all the time. and i know that the VGA cables need to connect to something for sound!

so... to solve that problem i'm just going to get a new motherboard and ram and a atx mid tower case. the case can be like <50$ motherboard<100$ and ram, doesn't matter.
i just don't know what to look for when i research for a motherboard,

i mean... this crappy one dell gave me ran crysis at high settings but with a lil lag.

---------------------------

and how will i switch back and forth from pc to 360 when i want to?
is there such thing as a vga switch? (edit, found a switch http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-2-Port-USB-Switch-Cables/dp/B000F4C310)

thanks in advance, i need help!

a new motherboard for <100$... 2gb (800) RAM... & a atx mid tower case
that would fit for a gamer like me... i've ran crysis, but i'll never buy a game with that kind of standards again... i just need the best bang for my buck basically.

you know you can just buy a VGA cable for the xbox specifically for connecting to PC monitors, and it has a jack for headphones (Y piece that can be removed to leave standard speaker plug..things)

link? it's official xbox gear. it should be for sale with the other xbox accessory's. i can take a pic of mine when i get home if you want. it should cost like $30.
edit: yeah xbox live works fine with it. mic has nothing to do with this cable really lol? on my personal settings i set the incoming chat to come through the headphones with everything else, so the mic just hangs around my neck to receive my voice haha.

ya dude, its what I use, http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/ and then I have a white/red female end types cable, with the other end being 3.5mm green cable input, also female, that I plug my computer speakers into, and it works wonderful. The vga will go up to 1920x1080 too, looks better than component cables imo, not better than HDMI though.

edit: it also has an optical sound out on the video connector thing that goes into the xbox, so you can opticol out for 5.1 surround if you have the hardware.
