usually the price will let you know if the card is good or not.

Wikipedia is a good place to check out graphic card statistics:

Hope that helps ya.

Do not get a laptop for playing games. Never buy a computer from bestbuy. Get a Radeon 4850 or a 4870, this is a high end card at a good price. The 3200 is very outdated. Build your own computer, its much cheaper and you get much more performance.

For $700 you could build a computer that would shit all over that Pavilion Laptop. This is what you can get:

4850 Graphics Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125224) - $170

4 gig of RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145194) - $100

Intel Dual Core Processer (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037) $170

Good motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130136) $150

There you go, I just built you a computer that isn't only superior but it saves you $100 (thats assuming you have a power supply)

Why would you buy a computer NOW for Diablo 3? That game will not be out for a couple years.

Looks pretty crappy to me. Get a 4850, or if you want to spend abit extra a 4870 which i have, which im pretty pleased with.

if you want a good graphics card, i'd recommend the 8800gt or the 8800 ultra...

The fuck? a 8800 Ultra?
the 4850 is like $20 more and performs ALOT better than a 8800GT
go with that, or for higher resolutions 4870

I have the 1GB 8800GT and it's superb, crysis works fine and over clocks pretty easily.
Like the others said, a laptop is shit for playing games on

4GB ram for $100?, that's £50 over here and i've just ordered 2gb DDRII PCR8500 for 50 quid hmm.

From: http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Radeon-HD-3200.9591.0.html

The AMD ATI Radeon (Mobility) HD 3200 is an onboard (shared Memory) graphics chip (on the RS780M chipset). It is based on the HD 2400 graphics core and features the UVD video engine to decode HD videos (Avivo HD).

Hybrid CrossfireX is a new feature of the chipset, that allowes to use the onboard HD 3200 graphics core in conjunction with a dedicated graphics card (of the Mobilty Radeon HD 3400 series) in Crossfire combination to increase the performance (similar to GeForceBoost / HybridSLI of Nvidia). Every frame is rendered by a different graphics core with this technique.

PowerXpress is used to save current if the HD 3200 is used with a dedicated graphics card of the HD 3000 series. The driver is able to dynamically switch between the onboard graphics (for low demanding tasks like office) and the dedicated graphics core for demanding tasks (e.g., games).

The UVD video engine is able to decode HD videos (MPEG-2, H.264, and VC-1) in all stages and allows the fluent playback of HD videos (e.g. Blu-ray) with a relative low CPU utilization (called Avivo HD). The HD 3200 is the first onboard graphics card that allows the fluent playback of Blu-ray videos.

The graphics core of the HD 3200 stems from the Mobility Radeon HD 2400 and is therefore DirectX 10 capable. Because of the missing graphics memory, the performance of the card is a bit lower than of the HD 2400. Theroretically, dedicated memory chips can be directly added to the chip, making it a dedicated graphics card. Because of pricing it is unclear if any manufacturer will add memory to the chip.

Still older games like Doom 3 or Quake 4 should be barly playable. Compared to older onboad graphic chips (e.g., GMA X3100), the HD 3200 is much faster. Even the Centrino 2 graphics core (X4500HD) should be slower than the HD 3200.

i just compared the 4850 and the 8800gt, their the same thing! the only difference is that the 4850 is a deactivated item... and it had more steam processors but thats it.

uhm, i got a 512mb one... could i get a 1gb and go SLI with a 8800gt 512mb and a 1gb? or does tha memory have to be the same?

1) comparing Nvdia to Ati is like comparing oranges to grapes. The cores are engineered on a 99% different disigne to eachother.
2) The 4850 is more in the realm of a lower end 9800. That compare chart isnt very accurate afaict.
3) unless your building a clevo, gaming on a laptop is a bigmistake. my buddy bought an asus and in the 3 weeks of playing wow, it overheated at least 15 times. course, he blames vista for it, but when his 9500m is reaching a core temp of 85c and cpu in the same area, its obviously not vista

So, I'm building a computer soon and so far I have a couple of parts ready, I'm not too hardware savy so I'm having this computer expert down the street order/build it for me.

Here's what I have so far:

4GB RAM, Corsair, courtesy of this thread. BFG Tech BFGE88512GTSE GeForce 8800GTS
And Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor.

Basically, I'm asking for recommendations on what I should get instead of the above or other specific parts I should get, (Mobo power supply) etc.
