Nvidia have finally released the drivers to allow any Geforce 8+ cards to run the PhysX engine through their CUDA.
NVIDIA Unleashes PhysX For GeForce 8 and Up (http://kotaku.com/5036015/nvidia-unleashes-physx-for-geforce-8-and-up)
Graphics card manufacturer NVIDIA bought PhysX cards creators AGEIA back in February, promising a free upgrade to existing GeForce 8 and above cards using their CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) interface down the line. Well we are now sufficiently down the line, as NVIDIA has released the first of many planned GeForce Power Packs (grab it here), which not only enables the technology but also gives you some nifty tools to explore it with.
Included in the first Power Pack is a complete version of Warmonger, one of the original showcases for the PhysX technology, an Unreal Tournament 3 PhysX Mod Pack with three maps, sneak peeks at Unreal Engine 3 powered social networking service Nurien, a couple of tech demos, and the drivers to make the whole thing go. Hit the jump for more info on this rather impressive update.
I've gotta say ... the fluid demo is fucking amazing. Anyone with a G80 or above should definately get the drivers and try this stuff out.

is this the thing with that warmonger game? that certainly wasn't a great first impression after trying it earlier today..

Warmonger is a bit shit. But the technology is mighty impressive if you look at the demos.

Yeah I uninstalled Warmonger after blowing up a few things. Nvidia/Ageia shouldn't advertise their tech with a useless third rate game.

I've got a PhysX card and a 8800 card, so, do I just download the driver update to make things even more awesome?

No you already bought a physX card so it'll all work for you but it won't be anything special :)
Yes aooga12 go to the Nvidia site and download the new driver.

They should do a mod for this on GTAIV coming later this year on PC. Buildings and such will be fun to explode...

Right and which games are you playing?

What games are affected by the PhysX card and drivers?

Hmm....that sucks if you actually bought the PhsyX card and now they release the update for the reg Nvidia.
I have a Nvidia I got for Christmas 4 years ago, and it will hardly play Postal2, will it work?

So does it only affect certain games, or will it work with the physics in any game?

Real games right now?

Not really, since the PhysX card can handle the physics fine leaving you without a hit on your GPU performance and no your graphics card is shit.

Only PhysX games, and again only games which actively spam your screen with physics.
The point of the PhysX card is to allow instead of 100 physical objects in a game which is optimistic even for now, but ot allow 10000+ objects with no hit on performance.
But for games to actually implement that ... developers actually need a big enough install base to make use of it. Before Nvidia came along there was an insignificant amount and so developers didn't do anything about it. Now however with everyone with a Geforce 8+ card and above been able to run it, developers should start picking up support.

Mostly Warhammer beta and WoW. And yes I know that these games are not enabled to use it (yet) but it is still a brand new driver and it made my FPS worse and had video related crashes occur.

Rollback your driver.

Rollback your driver.
I did almost instantly...and now I'm avoiding it till they come out with a more stable version.
