Basically I consider myself fairly knowledgeable in this game, having clocked up 24 days of playing. I reached tenth prestige about day 16 after staying on a few lower prestiges, I have two golden guns (Dragunov and M1104 Shotty) and I'm very close to the Gold mini-Uzi.
I figure if anyone wants tips on perks, guns, maps, or just wants to discuss the game talk in here.
I know there's been other threads on CoD4 but CBA with digging them up.

i haven't played CoD4 since BF came out. i should start playing again.
the nade spamming on team games just pisses me off. i try stick to deathmatch or team deathmatch.

Only got COD4 like a week ago, about 1/3 of the way through the single player. Pretty good so far, animation and graphics are very impressive.
Edit: After playing a few more missions, i can confirm the game is kick ass, the gunship mission was sweet, and eerily real.

Sweet, i Play every day and consider myself good, but I am getting extremely sick of every single person using a M16 with stopping power/deep impact, and sitting in a corner waiting. It happens every game, no one has any balls anymore to not camp.
And also I cant play without at least one of my clan members online, because I cant carry and entire team anymore, game is so frustrating.

the single player took me about 5 hours. but i didn't really expect to play single player to much anyway since i only really got it for multiplayer.
i didn't even try get the achievements. i think i got about 320 or something.
1000/1000 right here. Mile High Club on Veteran was silly. I tried it about 75 times before I cracked it.

I know exactly what you mean. Normally the best thing to do is walk around a corner spraying when you know someones in there, or cook a frag. It's the people who are in the most stupid of places. I make them my personal enemy. Like this guy who set up camp in that little nook in Strike, it's where if you were attacking B on SnD you'd rush through there to get to the market place. Sorta in the top right of the map, in between the house with plants on the first floor, and you can look through the gates through to the court where A flag is. Anyways, he set up claymores at both entrances and hid behind the dumpster. His claymores got me once but after that kept stunning him, shooting his claymore then knifing/no scoping him. The satisfaction was immense and after a few times he didn't camp there no more.
And also I cant play without at least one of my clan members online, because I cant carry and entire team anymore, game is so frustrating.
I don't have a clan or anything so most of the time I roll alone, shitty teammates suck ass. The people I normally play with play hardcore constantly and most of the time I'm not in the mood. When I am it's normally to fuck around in hSnD, like one game on Countdown all I did was look up and jump. We were defending so I hopped down the B and shot a smiley face into the ground. Well soon enough I was the last guy last and there was only one sniper on the other team. I kept firing 'Hi' into the ground, and the dude just walked past me :lmao:

It's annoying when you knife somebody; but I don't see why everyone hates it. If you haven't learned not to run away from dead bodies, or you can't recognise the sound of a grenade hitting the floor by now...

It's easy to run away from but it's just so annoying when your teammate is blocking the door and ends up getting both of you killed.

Yeah, that sucks. I remember a while ago I was running into one of the warehouses on Pipeline, and some guy with an RPD was stood there waiting. I could of easily had him first, but for some reason I couldn't turn fully through the door. Well, I died, and so did a jackass teammate who went in a split second before me and stood still like a gormless twat. He ended up shouting at me, I just faceplamed.

I usually use my sniper kit, currently a level 37 1st Prestige, trying to get Red Tiger for my Dragunov. Overgrown's probably my favorite map, great map for sniping. Never been a Halo fan, although I've been told I should 'go back to Gaylo' after jumping around alot when in a 1v1 situation.

Overgrown is probably my favourite map aswell. Helicopter are piss annoying. This is how they work:
Helicopters assess threat through several factors:
Distance from Helicopter - Closest gets threat
Has attacked Helicopter - Most recent attacker gets threat
Weapon Class - RPG-7, Assault, LMG > SMG, Scopes, shotguns.
Player Score - Highest scoring player in view gets threat.
Whoever has the highest combined threat from these four factors will be the helicopter's Primary Target.
But still, they always seem to get me when I'm sat inside a building!

It's pretty hard to suck at COD4. Use the AK-74u or the m16 + stopping power and you're invincible.

Nope, a heck of a lot of players do, inspired by the vast number of no-scope montages on youtube. I'm one of them; it's probably my most used class. I can no scope fairly well, and have pulled off quite a few 'collateral damages' recently. The M40 normally delivers 70 damage, but a fuck-up in the programming made it give 75 when you slap an ACOG on it, that's why if you shoot a guy in the toe he'll die.

Well, yeah. But it's all about timing and hard to master. It's called the G-Shot Tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEoh3g1KqMk). The first 5 minutes is the guy (zzirGrizz) doing shots, then he teaches you. It seems easy, but as I said it's all about the timing. Works the best out of all the methods I've seen.

I've managed to pull off a few god-like shots, and often jump down and no-scope into people; but I'm no where near Grizz, or CapgunTom. Or a lot of people that put montages up. I like to play COD4 ocassionally, Alternating between PC and PS3.
I prefer pc as its alot easier to aim and with the console scritps such as +holdbreath for sniping, it makes it much easier.

Funny you should say that, as I've decided to only play CoD2 for a while. Due to it's low activity I've found the games are mostly deathmatches; since there's only about 5 people in a lobby.
Not that I mind, it makes great matches. I forgot how great the maps are on CoD2. Toujane, Tunisia is a beast.

I play on the PS3. Been playing HQ a lot and just discovered the awesomeness of the MP5.
Maybe you can answer me something that I have been thinking about the last few days but haven't bothered googling it. I checked my score on the leaderboards and the ranks of the people with the same score as me. I was level 7 on the 3rd prestige and there was a guy that was level 37 on the same prestige. I cannot figure out how he would be 30 levels above me with the same score even though I go prestige as soon as I can. Only thing I could think of was the score is different from the experience?

just bought the game. played the first level or two of single player, was pretty impressed. but decided to go online since thats been all the talk about the game. Its pretty good but damn its just to fucking noisy sometimes with the fucking helicopter flying around nonstop, air strikes, and nade spam its fucking annoying.
Also maybe because im new and i haven't unlocked some new things (gunnery seargent 2 right now) but i feel underpowered. especially against the guys who one shot me before i can even fire a round off.
On a good note im actually doing pretty good. im mostly top 1-2 every match i play.
Overall its a decent game but it doesn't feel as indepth as other games like the battlefield games. and i think its overrated. 8.5 is a more better score than some of the shit its been getting like 9.5 +

im the same but i was a huge CS source player. so although i don't agree the COD4 gun physics are as good as CS source the graphics and enviorment is a hell of a lot better.

Pretty much. They didn't do enough to remove the shitty parts of COD4 multiplayer in a fast enough time. Now the game is full of faggots.

So many annoying things in that game that I have to rant a bit more. Ammo. Simply not enough ammo. I remember constantly having to pick up dead peoples weapons off the ground after running out of ammo. Yeah, I know I can get ammo from the asshole with all the ammo, but he's usually too busy- good luck with that shit.
No, I'm sorry but shooting through walls is fucking gay. Specially when your literally surrounded 360 by enemies your need a pair of eyes in the back of your head, the side of your head and with the helicopters the top of your fucking head too! No fucking cover in that game at all. Cept those concrete road blocks. They serve as good cover, but too bad there in a shitty place most of the time and your going to get flanked sooner or later. Or immediately.
Level design took a HUGE leap backwards. All the prior COD games had sprawling land scapes with huge open terrain. COD4 is nothing but CCQ. FFS why not give it a rest and have at least ONE level designed for some good old sniping. I love having sniper fights at like 500-700 yards. Nothing like getting that head shot at those ranges for me. Only one level in COD4 comes close and that level sucks anyhow. Forgots it's name, ah fuck it. Oh and the whole "hold your breath" button.....sigh......FAIL! FAIL! FAIL!
The objectives are old and so boring. FFS can't they come up with something a lil more creative like other games do? Basic loadout Team death match, death match, POV, and capture the flag. And one thing that really pisses me off is that your enemies basically spawn behind and in front and on your flanks at any given moment. It's fucking gay. Kick a bunch of ass to take a flag that will be taken back shorty after you took it so you can die a bunch of times taking it back to repete the whole thing again hour after hour. And you don't get shit for it cept some cheesy text and a BG image saying " yay, you win "...
The artillery is fucking stupid. No sound FX no nothing just BAM and your in a shit storm and you and everyone around you dies fucking up what was a fun fire fight in session. Why not do it like other games do it. Sound of incoming missles/bombs or perhaps ONE impact happens and 2-3 seconds later the volly comes pouring down. I fucking hate the artillery because it ruins the game for me. Here I am kicking some ass handing out ammo- having a jolly old time and then boom- done. Not even a chance to act, evade, find cover- doneski.
The helicopter is fucking gay. First off you should have to hide somewhere in a building and hit a button to become the pilot or even the gunner. To have it just fly around and do kills for you is fucking gay. No skill. Oh and ONE rpg hit should take it down, not 2 GDI.

nope, im pretty good at it and i agree on all levels. its a overrated game for sure.

jonny, sounds like you are just bad at the game.
I've literally played just about every FPS since the days of Castle Wolfenstein 3D and Doom where spiral staircases were "fucking amazing" lol.
I'm complaining about design not getting killed or having a bad day. For me the perfect FPS ever made was tribes and since then ET Qwake wars is the only game that can hold a candle to it. BF2, COD4, Crysis = all hype n rubbish.

So I invtented a new phenomena that is going to sweep call of duty by storm.
It's called night tubing.
Basically what you do when you get bored is make sure the majority of the players on the other team have mics and you go around with night vision on (no matter what map) and noob tube the shit out of them. Make sure you have sonic boom and eaves drop so you can hear how pissed they get.
It's fucking hilarious hearing kids bitch about being noob tube'd when you can't even see them. Talk shit after the match about how you noob tube'd someone or killed them with night vision on during a match on lets say ambush. You can't see anything with the blinding sun light so when you do get a kill it really really pisses them off after they watch the kill cam.
I managed to get pretty good at it after about a half hour and was consistently going 15-9 no matter what map.
Make sure you talk shit afterwards about how pathetic they are.....
