What's up with this message? How do I bypass these password requests? I have downloaded 2 programs from suprnova and both were .rar files. I opened them up with Winrar and the same message appears when I to extract the files. Is there somewhere the password is listed? If anybody knows what to do, your help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You have to get the password to decrypt the file along with the original post. If u dont have it ur fucked.

i've had these files before. on all of mine there are website names on the file name, and the pw has been that website. i.e. BF1942 www.games.com, www.games.com would be the PW. hope this helps

if the file needs a password and its not been supplied usually it means that the file has been leeched from somewhere.

this use to be a popular way of ensuring your hard work was not ripped off by people pretending they had cracked the app/game etc.

there are password crackers around, for zip/rar/tar files but its just easier to get the file from somewhere else. it most cases (99% nowadays) there will be an unprotected file with no password protection. ;)

I got it to work using this advice. The .rar file has the website of Bit Torrent in brackets, so I copy and pasted the site into the password and it extracted each and every file. Thanks to everyone that offered help.

Damn. I've had a couple files like that as well and I just gave up trying when people told me I would need a password hacker program. I wish I would have known about that earlier.
I'll remember for next time, thanks KingAustin :)

Yeah I was gonna give you the same advice. I had the same problem with a file I downloaded off eDonkey. The file name was Blink_182_Blink_182_Retail_for_www.goldesel.to.rar and when I tried to "un-rar" it, it asked for a password. I spent hours trying to figure it out, even downloaded a program that cracks passwords to rar files, but it was gonna take hours to do. Anyway, when I opened the file with WinRar, it gave a message in the right window with some url's listed. I tried the URL's as the passwords and one of them worked.
There is also a thread in the suprnova forums where people post passwords for different files they have found, if you really cant figure out a password for another rar file, it might be worth trying that thread (can't give a direct link now cos suprnova seems to be down).
