I'm looking for a really good gaming computer for under 800 bucks.

Something like this:

something similar...

I've tried sites like newegg and alienware, dell etc.

but cant find anything that jumps out at me. basically should have 250+ gig hard drive, real good video card, processor, and lots of ram.

So you're looking for a good gaming pc and you linked to one with a GeForce 9500 GT? That's not good at all. :(
$800 is quite a lot really, can do much much better at sites like cyberpowerpc.com (http://www.cyberpowerpc.com). Personally I'd get a p-6860 fx (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=4090488&sku=S445-P6860&cm_re=Homepage-_-Spot%2001-_-Laptops_S445-P6860) notebook from tigerdirect though if it were me.

You'd do a lot better building it yourself though or having a friend who knows pcs build it for you with parts from newegg.

I saw an ebay auction earlier that is kind of interesting too, there's some crazy deals on ebay sometimes check this one out:

Apparently includes a somewhat decent gaming pc with a great monitor, and you get an xbox 360 and crappy laptop with it. Something to think about.. gaming on pc is dead :p Get an xbox360.

You are definitely better off building a PC yourself or having someone build it for you especially if you are on a budget.

For gaming, the most important component is the video card so make sure you don't half ass it and get something cheap. I recommend at least 512MB of built in memory along with the current generation GPU (Nvidia 9 Series)

Next you will need to get a good amount of memory. Since DDR2 is so cheap nowadays you can get a 4GB dual channel kit for little money but do not get any more than that since Windows will not recognize it.

Finally you need to get a good CPU. I recommend a quad core CPU for multi-threading capabilities and because it's future proof. Good luck.

I know this is unrelated to the topic at hand, but PC gaming is far from dead buddie. My current PC setup can play games that the Xbox 360 can only dream of playing such as Crysis. A powerful PC is much more beneficial to you than a console will ever be.

Nvidia 9 is just a refresh is 8 series. So in other words don't just choose a 9500 over an 8800gt/gts/gtx. Go here (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparison-of-Graphic-Cards.130.0.html) to compare notebook gpus or here (http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/graphics-cards/3dmark06-v1-0-2-hdr-sm3-0-score,538.html) to check out desktop gpus. Remember that while 512mb memory is important you don't want to buy the card just because it has 512mb. It should be at minimum the 9600gt gddr3 or 8800gts(g92) if you expect to game much.


Finally you need to get a good CPU. I recommend a quad core CPU for multi-threading capabilities and because it's future proof. Good luck.

You'll want at minimum core2duo with 4mb L2 cache. A good cpu does not need to be quadcore (but helps) but is really important to have at minimum 2mb L2 per core.
