Here's my situation:

I want to reuse a hard drive that previously came with a Dell computer.
I have formatted said hard drive a couple times and can see it fine (and manipulate) in a 2nd PC.

Problem is, I can't install Vista on it on a new PC build. It keeps booting up with some Dell thing in BIOS and can't find the drive when on the option to choose installation location for Windows.
It recognizes drive in BIOS, but not in Windows for Vista installation.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the Dell crap?

Thats the thing about you're posting, you post obvious and unnecessary shit. Post something that will help the man out, you asshole. I don't have much to say here because I don't know what to do, but I bet you do.

You might need to load the proper RAID/SATA drivers for your motherboard before you can install Windows on the hard drive. There's an option to load storage drivers during the installation process so that it can detect the hard drive.

Here's some step by step instructions:

This looks promising.
So if it were a Western Digital drive, I'd use, "SIIG Serial ATA Controller Card Driver"
from here http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=603&lang=en ?

Put it on a flash drive, yes?
Thanks for the help. You too, Wowgold guy.

You should also try using the SATA/RAID driver for your motherboard as well. Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and download the SATA/RAID drivers, then you can put them on a flash drive, cd, floppy, etc. and try to load them during the install process.

To find that out he needs to find its skin color.
