do you really expect people to play fifa '92 for the rest of their lives, or does it deserve to be renewed each year with, oh i dunno 11 man online teams and new players. idiot.

PES >Fifa crap.

Going by the last installment of each, that is incorrect. Fifa owned PES last year and that's coming from someone who has played PES since it was called ISS.

Judging by the FIFA 09 demo I have to say that PES will have a lot to do this year if it is going to justify anything from my wallet. I've pre-ordered FIFA and I'll wait and see what the reviews on PES are before I seriously consider buying it.

Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to this game. It has a whole new feel to it and the passing is simply awesome with how much personality you can put into it.

Don't you feel it's stupid how you have to 'charge' passes? We have analogue face buttons FFS, surely the strength of a pass can be dictated that way, rather than having to hold pass down for up to 2 seconds before I actually want to pass?

2 seconds is a bit of an exaggeration to be fair. My biggest criticism of FIFA last year was that the passes were too robotic and a lot of the time they were just cut out and intercepted. So to my surprise they have completely re-worked it and it's a huge improvement. Going from what I've experienced in the demo I haven't had any problems with the "charging". And anyway I'm pretty sure you can disable that if you don't like it so it's all good.

Not really 'all good', the only way to disable it is to use 'assisted' passing, which means they all get there and it's makes the game too easy.

omg fifa 09 will be freaking awesome
ive been playing the demo for hours so far

the shooting, passing, slide tackling, everything is way better and more realistic. the goalies aren't rigged anymore either

i stopped being a PES fanboy since PES 2008. fifa 09 will kickass

I personally don't even like the multiple players v multiple players, I prefer to play 2v2 everytime. It's far better just forming a close partnership rather than having a ton of players just chasing the ball. But I suppose the new option where you can make your own clans will help out a lot.

Still, it's new features and it's a positive move, can't complain.

Get in there :D Glad to hear it. What console do you have, maybe give you a game when it's out? You strike me as an Xbox man though.

PS3!

I'm not great with manual passing, probably because I like to use the D-pad to control it, so I don't get the 360degree control.

Demo is just too short though, 2 minute halves don't really let you get going.

Yeah, I was really surprised how different this game is than 08...very cool demo. Hopefully the full game is great. IMO, PES just hasn't kept up. And with the continued improvements in Manager Mode in FIFA, the only drawing point for PES has gone, Master League.

Loooove the new passing and the overall feel. Also, I know this is stupid, but the fact that the refs are on the field now just adds something to the game. Especially when you can bean him with the ball.

does anyone know if they added the "hand ball" rule in yet? I noticed alot of futbol games lacked this rule. It's good that they added the ref in the field, gives it a more realistic feel
