After reviewing all of the remaining 2008 releases, along with the 2009 releases I have commenced brick-shitting. I'm going to be blowing a lot of money in the next year.
Next month alone I'm getting;
Fallout 3
Guitar Hero 4
Little Big Planet
Far Cry 2
+An additional controller.
Not to mention resident evil 5 in 2009, and God Of War 3, and Fracture, and Dead Space etc.
I need a job.
Lets hear your lineups for the next year.

Gee, it sure is FPS and guitars around here...
God of War 3, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Tekken 6, Persona 4. There isn't much that interests me as of late. It's all the same old shit that isn't in my taste. Thank fuck for PS2's giant library that I've barely dug into.

Whatever Warriors game is coming out. I don't have the patience for anything other than riding around on horseback and killing hundreds of Asians anymore.

Were any of the latest ones significantly different from Dynasty Warriors 3? What is that Orochi shit?

Not really into any "Next-gen" games right now. This is probably my least favorite generations for ALL three consoles. MGS4, Cod4, and FFXIII and FFXIIIVersus are exceptions. Like Lividum said, it's all the same uninteresting shit.
I WILL buy Fable 2, though. I just sold my 360, so I guess I'll see how games work on the PC. The only PC game I've played is WOW, which I started a couple of weeks ago. So far, it's a great name for PC games.

Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors' characters together in one game, I don't really like it to be honest.

Gears 2, Far Cry 2 and Saints Row 2 are all I'm looking forward to. The first Killzone and Resistance games sucked hairy ass, so I'll probably not bother with the sequels.

Well, according to the reviews, 6 changed the battle system into something less enjoyable. SW 1 was really a piece of shit, but I liked it for the small changes. I avoid the expansion games because what I really enjoy is going through a arcade-ish story campaign and not setting up some empires shit or dealing with strategy elements.
So, in that respect, DW4 and DW5 are both good. I consider DW4 more fun though, I like the stages design better and there aren't any bases in the levels which ruin the pace of slaughtering for me. SW2 is also great.
Orochi apparently recycles all the characters recent movesets, applies the skill system (unlocking shit through exp. instead of tedious item triggering), you can flip through 3 characters at a time, and it uses stages from both Samurai and Dynasty games. I'm really interested in checking it out, the sequel too.

I might check out Orochi then if I get to be a samurai and kill hoards of Chinese. But Samurai Warriors 1 sucked when I played it, so I don't have high expectations. Maybe I'll wait for Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. At least that's a relatively new concept compared to the Three Kingdoms thing Koei have been doing for at least 100 years.

Wait for the updates and expansions. They already released one update that makes the space stage less annoying or whatever issue it was they were having with that. Plus some graphics filters or something.
That's what I'm doing. Not that I have a choice, since I need a new computer, but by the time I build one, Spore should be less shitty.

Yeah, and if you really don't mind waiting, usually they will release bundles with the original game and expansions all in one pack for 20 bucks. If its a game you want to support though, might as well and shell out the new price. And granted, the more popular the game, the longer it takes to do this. Personally, most of my games were not really worth 50 dollars anyways so I am glad I waited.
Part of me just wants to not play video games for 1-2 years and then come back to it and see whats new. Most games are just prettier versions of the same recycled gametype. I think it comes down to which game engine/map editor will support the best custom mods, thats where the replay value comes in. I am more hyped for the starcraft 2 map editor than I am for the game itself.

That's been the case since the early 90s. Same old shit recycled in prettier colors and graphics with some various gimmicks added to keep hooking new generations to it. The only thing you can hope for is the occasional "off" game that either creates a genre itself or redefines one well enough to call it unique (Spore is a good example of that, but it currently lacks the depth needed to make it a memorable and lasting game.).
But, I don't hate repetition as long as there are some fresh aspects in the game. I'm mostly an RPG guy, so formulaic games are extremely familiar to me. The basic gameplay concepts can be there, but there should be some innovation. It can be in gameplay, graphics, or story. As long as something is new and the game doesn't suck for the most part, I'm good.
I'm hoping for some really new shit this generation though. The consoles are powerful enough to offer interesting things. I just hope developers start taking advantage of it sooner than later. So far, this console generation doesn't seem that distinct from late last gen (apart from bloom and excessive focus on online multiplayer). Then again, it's still pretty early into it.
edit:
Fuck yeah, I found two games to anticipate:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Knight_Chronicles
As per the playable demo at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show, some enemies are extremely large in size, resulting in battle situations similar in style to Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation 2 title, Shadow of the Colossus. In one piece of concept artwork, a massive turtle-like creature is depicted carrying an entire city on its back.
Fuck yeah, giant shit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles
Fuck yeah, fictional Europe.
edit 2: Oh shit, Valkyria Chronicles is coming out in November. Fucking finally, I get a PS3 RPG.
And there's also Bioshock. Possibly Tales of Vesperia if the developers take the 360 stick out of their ass and port it over.
