So, I want to see a Red Sox vs. Dodgers World Series, with the Sox coming out on top. Mainly because if the Red Sox beat the Dodgers in the WS, not only would the Yankees look stupid for firing Torre (one of the worst decisions by a GM EVER!) but I would just like to see the look on Manny's face.
The Angels run the bases better than any team in baseball, but last night they ran into a few outs (Vlad ran right threw a stop sign and essentially blew the game), Jacoby Ellsbury is on fire right now and Dice K is undefeated on the road. If the Angels lose on Friday kiss that series goodbye with Beckett slated for game 3.
Jon Lester? Wow.
The Brew Crew is in trouble unless C.C. somehow finds a way to pitch every single game.
The Rays will probably lose 1 game to the White Sox, but I hope the White Sox can pull it off.
Phillies? Yeah whatever...
And here...we...go!

lol not looking good for the Cubs so far.
How about J Bay Bay with the homerun last night. I had a good feeling about him going into the game. Lester was lights out, if Lowrie didnt make that error angels would of had 0 runs, and Lester could of gone 8 innings. Looking forward to Dice K even though he hasnt beat the Angels yet.
CC pitched got smoked bye Brewers.

edit: Diasuke has an excellent chance to completely kill off the Angels home field advantage tonight. The key will be Ellsbury cont'd success at the top of the order and whether or not Peedy can get his bat going. Hopefully Sunday's game will be a clincher...b/c I have tickets!

Beckett looks like shit right now, not his dominant post season self. Walking in a run in the first inning? Come on.
If he doesn't settle in I think Byrd is coming on for long relief and if thats the case, this series will be at 2-1 by the end of the night.
Edit: Wow! No one calls for a fly ball by Ellsbury and a good pitch to get out of a bases loaded jam turns into a three run bloop. 3-1 Sox. I just don't think it was meant for the Halos this year, sorry fellas.
Edit #2: Napoli just CRUSHED one over the green monster. Get Beckett the hell out of there, he doesn't have it tonight. If Byrd comes in this could get ugly for the sox. Ahh I fucking love playoff baseball!

No Mike Lowell tonight for the Red Sox, but with Jon Lester on the mound the Angels are in trouble.
This is a must win for both teams, Angels win or they're done and the Red Sox definitely do not want to play a game 5 in Anaheim.

Mike seemed more like a liability out there last night than an asset. I love Lowell, but he's just too beat up. Gimme Lowery, Cora, Pedroia, Youkillis or Youk, Lowery, Pedroia, Kotsay tonight and I'm confident in the Sox's chances.

I'd like to see Youk at 3B, Lowrie at SS, and Casey at 1B tonight to make up Lowell out of the line-up. If the Sox win this series and I don't know if they can make it all the way without Lowell's bat. I hope he can play.

They won 100 games because they play in the AL west. They were the only team in the league that was over .500. This is no surprise. It never is, they always have a padded record and look great heading into the playoffs and they choke every time.
I think Francona is making a mistake taking Lester out right now, he is LIGHTS OUT! I understand they want to rest him for game 1 of the ALCS but this game isn't over yet by any means.
FUCKING STUPID FUCK EDIT RETARD FRANCONA: I hate to say I told you so, especially to myself, but Tito takes Lester out because he was looking ahead to the ALCS and now its all tied up going into the 9th and the Angels have all the momentum. This is driving me insane...

Wow! That was a hell of a game. The ALCS might as well be the WS. That seems to be the trend lately. The Rays and all of their fairweather fans can suck one. No one even showed up to their games until they started playing well. The Red Sox are a dangerous ball club in the post season, we don't know if the Rays are yet because this is their first crack at it. I just hope it's a good series.
I'll be rooting for the dodgers on the other end. I want to see Manny, Torre, D Lowe, and crew back at Fenway.

You need to lay off the cheesesteaks, boss. The Red Sox aren't going to lose to a NL team in the World Series with home field advantage. Beating the Rays is what they should be worried about. They have gone 7 games in their past two ALCS appearances, but...
The Red Sox are 8-0 against NL teams in the World Series this decade.

Sox experience vs. Rays inexperience a big factor here?
Small factor, momentum is what defines the playoffs. I'm a Sox fan, and I think the Rays win game one 9-2. I think they take advantage of Dice-K trying to nibble and he walks half of the line-up.
You can get away with that in the regular season but not in the playoffs, walks are so much more important.
I really hope I'm wrong. I wanted to see Dice-K as a game two starter. I would have slated it:
Game 1: Beckett
Game 2: Dice-K
Game 3: Lester
Game 4: Wakefield
Game 5: Beckett
Game 6: Dice-K
Game 7: Lester
Lester is the club's ace now and has been for a while.

Yeah, but they're not playing an AL team, I never said the Phillies wouldn't make it to the World Series, I said they aren't winning (and neither are the Dodgers) when they get there.
It could happen, but its doubtful. The AL has been the superior league as of late and they have home field advantage again this year. An NL team has a better chance of beating the Rays as they have World Series experience.

And that whole statement is based on what you want to happen. That means nothing, and it isn't based on any baseball knowledge. You're probably just some Philly homer. Good luck to the Phillies in the WS (if they wrap up the NLCS) they're going to need it.

We got a barn burner in Tampa! Papelbon coming in. This game is wild!
Edit: What a fucking joke. The home plate ump wanted to go home. He squeezed the shit out of Timlin, even though Timlin coming into a game is a death sentence for the Red Sox, he didn't deserve that. As soon as Timlin came in the strike zone was about as big as Barry Bonds' steroid balls. And Francona mismanaged the fuck out of that game. Yeah, leave Beckett in until he gives up 8 runs. Fucking Francona, "Everybody's friend, nobody's boss."
1-1 Heading to Fenway on Monday with Lester on the hill for the Sox.

Woot I'm going to game 4!
I dont even want to talk about the fucking ump. Price threw the ball in the same exact spot, he gave him a strike. That struck out Kotsay instead of a walk. Timlin gets a fucking ball. I'm glad they gave the ump shit. Timlin acually pitched ok. Not blowing it with a homerun or something. But there were 4 strike calls he was robbed on.
I know fucking Francona should of took him out. After Beckett the bullpen was lights out up till the 9th inning. We would of won if he got taken out with the lead. This team has to win each game in 9 innings. They cant get the job done in extras. Nobody seems to come up with a big hit. The pitching can only do it for so long.
Well I hope they can finish in 5. Not looking forward to more games in the Cowbell Dome. Seriously use your fucking hands. You dont see lame ass shit like that in Fenway. Any stadium really besides Anaheim. They are the next worst with the thundersticks.

Tim Wakefield broke mentally on that diving play that Crawford beat out. Then gives up another 2-run dinger. Rays up 5-0, and Francona once again pulls his starting pitcher after the game is out of reach. I can't stand watching him mismanage games any more.

Uhh Thursday's game is in Boston.
Well sucky game to go to. But my seats were in the 4th row, down left field. Never sat that close before. Gotta believe they can come back again. That comeback against the Yanks was close to impossible. And last year against Cleveland they beat their top 2 pitchers Sabathia and Carmona. Dice K should win game 5. But will Beckett just get smoked again in game 6? Last year him dominating Cleveland in Game 5 started the whole comeback.
So not much excitement in the game besides Cash's homerun and Ortiz's triple lol. I hope that gets him going for game 5. And In the 8th inning these 2 Rays fans came down for closer seats. And right away everyone starting yelling shit to them. Someone called them bandwagon fans. 2 Rays fans and 3 Sox yelling at each other for 5 minutes. They took the seats right next to me. I didnt say anything right away. Then one of the Rays fans yelled shut the fuck up haha. And the other faggot brought out a stupid ass cowbell, the ones they gave out free in the Trop. I hate those stupid fucking things and I started giving the fags shit also. That was the worst thing he could do, bring a cowbell to Fenway. Dont remember exactly what I said, but I used the word pussy and faggot alot. And yelled out a loud you suck as they walked off. All the fans did in the area. Because he rang the bell for a minute straight. Peanuts were being thrown also it was funny shit. Then a security guard escorted them out for their own good. Because trust me there would of been fists thrown eventually. Dam wish I got a video, I was way too into yelling stuff.

Dice K is the Red Sox only hope of cooling down the Rays' red hot bats. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox came back to win, but I'll be honest, I think the Rays are having one of those Cinderella type seasons, similar to how the Marlins won their titles. The Rays better try to finish it in 6, because a game 7 might add too much pressure for such a young team. I think the Rays are taking it though.

Lol, they eliminated the Angels because they went through the same thing Boston is now feeling, not because they were an overall better team. I'm a Boston fan and even I can admit that. Can you honestly tell me that after giving up 31 runs in 3 straight losses, 2 at their home park, to last year's worst team, makes them a World Series contender? Okayyyy. :err:

Obviously, the Ray's record last year has absolutely nothing to do with their performance now... Boston is losing to the AL East champions, not the shit stain Rays of years past. What I meant by what I said was that if they have played the entire season the way they are playing right now, they would not be a playoff team. How they're playing this series makes me think their win over Anaheim was a fluke and LA should be playing Tampa. They're getting spanked by a young team that isn't much better than them, so should they make it to the WS? Probably not. Think of it any way you want to though, that's fine by me. Did you have the same attitude in 2004 when they lost game three of the ALCS 19-8 and went down 0-3 to the Yankees? Because after that I had the same attitude you have now, and I was proven wrong. And the same thing happened when they were down 3-1 to Cleveland last year.

This is why the games are played rather than handed to the teams with winning records.
On another note.. Tampa Bay reminds me of the '04 BoSox. They'll probably take the series in 5 or 6.

Did you have the same attitude in 2004 when they lost game three of the ALCS 19-8 and went down 0-3 to the Yankees? Because after that I had the same attitude you have now, and I was proven wrong. And the same thing happened when they were down 3-1 to Cleveland last year.
I've learned not to count them out, regardless of how improbable a comeback may be.
2004, yea, not so much last year. I just can't see this team doing the damage we did in the other 2 years and i'm generally an optimistic person. Of course Dice-K, Beckett and Lester can all throw perfect games, Papi and Tek can hit for the cycle, and Ellsbury can hit 4 homeruns in the next game and maybe they'll be on to something.

Yeah, except the Sox probably need less than a third of those things happen to win. Kazmir is pitching tomorrow, the Sox bury him every time out. The Rays haven't been able to beat Dice-K yet. 3-2 and 3-1 are a whole different ballgame (no pun intended) especially with Beckett picthing the following game. You never know who is going to show up, but I am fairly certain of one thing; the Rays can't keep hitting like this, this isn't a Disney baseball movie and they are still playing at Fenway tomorrow.
Playoff baseball is all about momentum, which will be back to about 50-50 if they get the bats going and Dice-K does his thing for a W tomorrow.
That would make it 3-2 Rays going back to Tampa (much better than the last two times the Sox have seen the ALCS). And if you don't think Josh Beckett feels like he's got something to prove you're sorely mistaken. If the Sox win tomorrow I think we see some flashes of what Beckett was last post-season, at least enough to put the team in a position to force a game 7 if the offense supports him.
So, no, you are not an optimist. You sound like an average bandwagon Sox fan who knows nothing about baseball, or the team you claim to be a fan of. If the Sox win tomorrow, don't be surprised to see a young Tampa team fold under pressure. If not, good look to the AL East in the World Series and congrats to Maddon and the Rays.

I think you Boston fans have to be sick and tired of seeing Tim Wakefield, a 42 year old Knuckleballer just lobbing up shit over the plate and watching it fly over the fence. Im a Yankee fan and ive seen how many bad outings that guy has had. He is not a big game pitcher and lost you another big game in the playoffs. You gotta like your chances with Dice K tommorow and hopefully Beckett can redeem himself.

Wakefield and Timlin are nothing but baggage. They've done a lot for the team in the past but they just can't get the job done anymore. Timlin coming into a game in the late innings is a death sentence. I would rather see Byrd in there, and that's not saying much for Timlin.
As far as Dice-K, I nearly have a heart attack every damn time he pitches. He always gets in jams but somehow it seems like he always pitches out of them. He's like Houdini, he's a hell of an escape artist.

After the loss to the Red Sox tonight of 8-7. That might have damaged the young Tampa Bay team too much which will help the red sox win game #6 and then it will be down to a one game series and if that is the case. I would have to go with the experience between the 2 teams and that would be the Boston Red Sox winning game #7. I would now say it a "MUST WIN" for Tampa in game #6.

This game was completely mismanaged by Tito, from not pinch hitting for Varitek on 3 seperate occasions to not pinch running Ellsbury for ANYONE. Weak offenses need to manufacture until something clicks. Such a lazy effort by everyone.

I realize that Tampa needs to have a dome because it rains all summer, but they should have made it retractable, and they should have designed the inside much better. There has been talk about building a new stadium and now that they are going to the WS maybe it will happen.
I hope the Tigers take something from the Rays and make their team competitive next year. What a let down having the 3rd highest payroll in MLB and coming in last in the AL central.

HA HA to all the crying red sox fans, maybe in another 25 years.
Haha, what? Who's crying? We made it to, and almost won the ALCS against a better team. That's awesome. Not to mention in the last 4 years we've won 2 world series.
25 years, eh? Where does that figure come from?
What is it with everyone always hating Boston/New England teams? I know we're good, but jesus, you don't have to make it so obvious by hating us for kicking your teams asses. HAHA.
But seriously, what's with the hate? Did we steal your lunch money? The world cheered when Brady was injured. How unsportsmanlike is that? Who cheers when a great football player suffers an injury that puts him out for the season? People who are clearly afraid of him. ;)
Same with the Red Sox. The only reason you hate them is most of your teams can't top them. You only make it more obvious by cheering when they fail. It's actually kind of flattering. :lmao:

Acually when our payroll is $133,440,037 vs the Rays $43,820,598 we should be in the world series. Not taking anything away from all the young talent they developed on that team. I watched the Rays give the Sox fits for years even when they had bad records every season. And knew they would be good someday. But I never pictured this happening. Kind of like Eli Manning beating the Patriots.

Hamels pitching tonight gives the edge to the Phillies, even at the Trop Dome. If they Phillies win tonight they steal home field advantage, but as we saw in the Rays' last series that doesn't seem to matter. I'll be rooting for the Rays to pull it off either way. Phillies in 6. I dont know how that Rays bullpen beat us. Perhaps if we had you know who, no forget it. The Rays pen isnt looking good though. We beat up on Balfour, Wheeler wasnt great except for game 2. He pitched 3 long innings and that hurt him. He is their main closer. Unless Price steps up big they arent winning. Phillies have a better overall bullpen I think. We will see if that matters.

What does experience have to do with anything? The White sox and Red sox had a lot more experience than the phillies and the rays beat both of them.
The American league is far better than the national league, as displayed in inter-league play over the last several years. If you faggots would actually take the time and compare the bullpens, instead of making uneducated assertions, you would clearly see that the rays have a FAR superior bullpen, with the ONLY exception being the closer. The ERA's of the rays main relief pitchers are much better than the Phillies main relief pitchers, and the rays pitchers faced American league hitting.
Rays 4 games to 1.
Edit:
The Phillies were 4-11 in interleague play this year, and the Rays were 12-6

Phillies? Yeah whatever...
You need to lay off the cheesesteaks, boss. The Red Sox aren't going to lose to a NL team in the World Series with home field advantage.
Yeah, but they're not playing an AL team, I never said the Phillies wouldn't make it to the World Series, I said they aren't winning (and neither are the Dodgers) when they get there.
Read this thread all the way through and you will understand why it's justified when some Sox fans say "I told you so." Some are unrelenting in their support and others are bandwagoners. You really can never count them out in October, and I happen to be one who honestly believes that. So to all of the naysayers, I TOLD YOU SO when I said they weren't ready to pack it up and start making tee times. And I'll be glad to say I told you so when Boston goes into Tampa with all of the momentum in the world and a young Tampa ball club folds under pressure.

And to clarify, it might seem like I'm a bandwagoner, but truthfully, I hadn't followed baseball since the early nineties, and I moved down here to Florida and caught baseball fever from my boyfriend. Right place, right time, I guess, and I probably would have become a fan regardless.

As for domes...yeah, sorry, but your dome sucks. Whomever thought it was a good idea to pain the ceiling the same color as the ball needs to be shot. I'm surprised more teams don't do like Arizona did and have a retractable roof...it's a lot of money but it prevents rain delays and what not.

They're trying to get a new stadium built, which would be nice, but apparently a lot of the old fogies with sticks up their asses don't want it. Dumbasses, a new stadium with more seating would only help the economy, the Trop is fun to visit but it doesn't feel like baseball indoors.
People will find anything to bitch about though, granted it's a lot of money to go into it the stadium but it's a hell of a lot nicer for a team that's just proven they belong in MLB.

I doubt you know more about baseball than me, considering you never gave a single reason for your prediction, but good call none the less. Talk about a fucking circus, huh? A 3-inning game to win the title is sort of anti-climactic. I wish it would have been an entire game, for Phillies' fan's sake. Oh well.
On to the off-season who stays who gos insanity!

I was just bustin your balls, but you didn't have any confidence in the Phillies at the beginning of the NCLS and I knew that they were going to make it to the series. Oh well I hope they have close to the same team so they have a chance of doing it again.
