if it wasnt for injurys. Ken Griffey would have hit nearly 800 homeruns

1989 - 16 homeruns
1990 - 22 homeruns
1991 - 22 homeruns
1992 - 27 homeruns
1993 - 45 homeruns
1994 - 40 homeruns ( strike ended season at 111 games ) + 20HR's
1995 - 17 homeruns ( injured for 90 games ) + 30 homeruns
1996 - 49 homeruns
1997 - 56 homeruns
1998 - 56 homeruns
1999 - 48 homeruns
2000 - 40 homeruns
2001 - 22 homeruns ( injured for 50 games ) + 15 homeruns
2002 - 8 homeruns ( injured for 90 games ) + 30 homeruns
2003 - 13 homeruns ( injured for 110 games ) + 35 homeruns
2004 - 20 homeruns ( injured for 80 games ) + 25 homeruns
2005 - 35 homeruns ( injured for 30 games ) + 10 homeruns
2006 - 27 homeruns ( injured for 50 games ) +15 homeruns
2007 - 30 homeruns
2008 - 18 homeruns

current total - 611 homeruns
total W/O injurys and strikes - 791 homruns

and hes still playing baseball next year aswell

then you factor in his 10 gold gloves on the defensive end.

then you factor in his popularity

add that to his personality and image

and you have the greatest baseball player ever ( if not for those stupid injurys )

as it stands i would say only babe ruth and willie mays are better all time because they didnt miss nearly as many games.

I think Alex Rodriguez is going to be greatest clean player but if Griffey stayed healthy it would have been fun to see them both break all the records.

"Great Player Ever" is tough because of the whole era problem. I would go so far as to say he is the best of the current era.

Definetly if he never got injured. he would be ahead of bonds in HR's and is clean, im sure people would have cared alot more if griffey broke the record, nobody gives a shit about bonds. He also has the best left handed swing in the game, manny for right handed imo

You really cannot just assume 180 homeruns. It is a good bet though that he would have been ahead of Bonds. You also have to remember that staying healthy is a part of the game as well.

If Joe Jackson wouldn't have gambled and gotten kicked out of the game he would have been the best hitter ever. If Sandy Koufax didn't have his arm problems he would have been the best pitcher ever. If Barry Bonds didn't take steroids he would have been the best homerun hitter of all time. If Roberto Clemente didn't die in a plane crash he would have rabble rabble rabbled. If Josh Gibson wasn't stuck in the Negro league he rabble woulda rabble rabbled. If Sadaharu Oh didn't rabble in Japan then rabble would have rabbled.

Get it?

Not to mention the fact that you can't assume he'd hit a certain number of home runs in his injury seasons, he was an oft-injured player, that has to factor into his all time status.

Not to mention? Like 4 people have already mentioned that.

If we're taking for granted that Griff is clean, then we can take for granted that A-Rod is clean.
