Just my opinion. FarCry>Fallout
I would like Fallout a lot more if they had polished up the animations and the battles. I think the developers got lazy finishing this one up. Another thing is that the missions don't lend much in the way of pointing you in specific directions. Sometimes your expected to look in super obscure places to find an objective. I never had to look online for hints but this game broke me.
With Farcry you get what you pay for: you kill a lot of dudes. It's two short falls is that it starts slow and is a bit repeating in that you kill a LOT of dudes all of the time.
In Farcry strategy is really important too, lots of really cool effective weapons.

Far Cry 2 is shit, same, repetitive shit, lacking substance and story.
Don't waste ur money. Crysis>Far Cry 2 by a huge margin.

Wow have you even played Fallout 3 for more than an hour ? the animations dont take anything away from the game and I have been in alot of sick battles.
Arse Cry 2 looks pretty and thats about it, they bragged how good it would be but its just a mediocre arcadey FPS that looks nice, but has to be one of the most shallow and repetitively boring games released this year, there is only strategy involved if you really try hard to make it strategic and difficult for yourself, other than that every battle I just walked into a town and blew the shit out of everyone with grenade launcher, RPG, grenades, molotovs and AK47. Same old shit all the time, plus the AI can see you through any kind of foliage and shoot you with 100% accuracy, hell one time a mother fucka shot me through a tin-house wall that didnt even have any windows on as I was RUNNING, when I looked at the wall it had a line of bullets where he had clearly aimbotted me through the wall as I was running.
Don't see how you can sit there and say Far Cry 2 is better than Fallout 3 as a game, both them games being released at the same time should have given Far Cry 2 a maximum rating of 6/10 on all review sites, but we know how they work most of the time.
Basically Xerxes, Far Cry 2 was fun for a few hours, then it got boring and I was glad when I got Fallout 3, because I've played it for a shit load of hours and haven't even been tempted to go back and play Far Cry 2.

Fair points, but I played Fallout 3 for the first time yesterday and it bored me half to death. It's really just preference. I love the weapons in FC 2 and creeping through the foliage with a sniper rifle, I like the missions, and I like blowing shit up in a spectacular way. The whole time I played Fallout, all I did was walk around looking at stuff and talking to people, boooooring for me.

Well no shit. Try playing FarCry 2 confined to mikes bar and you'd get bored to.
Fallout 3 is soooo much deeper and filled than FarCry 2.
Oh and for the record, Fallout 3 looks far far better than FarCry 2. At least on the PC it kicks the shit out of it.
FarCry 2 is also very very linear ... I mean you've got an open world ... but when you look at it ... it's just corridors ... it feel very inorganic. Add that too the complete lack of items, crappy customisablity and terrible currency. It's way to shallow.

How long did you play F3 for though ? It takes a little time to get going ( As most RPG style games can do ), but after a little while all I have been doing is blowing the shit out of everything and doing some pretty fun and humorous quests, plus the fact the game holds alot of replayability and far more hours of play than Far Cry 2, with a far better map and far more freedom. Hell outside of Pala, EVERYONE is an enemy, no civilians, everyone instantly wants to kill you on sight even from 200 metres away, which gets repetitively annoying and ruins any immersion they even attempted to put into Far Cry 2.
Maybe it is just personal preference but after playing Far Cry 2 for a while I felt like I was playing a poor half made game, the weapons aren't even that spectacular, infact they are utter shite considering every assault rifle does the same damage ( which is really crap damage, point blank have to fuckin spray the guy full of bullets before he will die.
On the other hand Fallout 3 has some awesome weapons which I am loving, the Fatman fires mini-nukes that awesomely fuck enemies up, Nuka-grenades are also awesome ( grenades that have the power of a tiny nuke ), Rock-it launcher is a great weapon, it fires any junk you can put in there, I filled mine with about 40 different bits of junk like empty bottles, shot glasses, coffe mugs, baseballs, basketballs etc and just fire them endlessly into my enemies and watch them get torn apart by allsorts of stuff. I've played the game for alot of hours and there are still so many places to explore and more cool weapons I haven't found. Plus the gore is strangely beautiful :P.

Well, if you don't like it then you're never going to like it. I find Far Cry more fun than Fallout because I'm a big FPS fan. People are comparing Fallout to Deus Ex, and I found both Deus Ex games boring as fuck.

But the first person combat in Far Cry 2 is just as bad ...
The weapons are crap, the enemies are dumb and soak up bullets, the enviroments are bland and boring etc etc

I remember Far Cry 1 and I remember the way the AI could just kill you through anything. I'll give Fallout 3 a try and see how it goes.

Fair enough. FarCry 1 was mediocre, but it's not the same game with FarCry 2. They really delivered a much better all around game.
Every game has it's faults and everything but I really think the hype around FO3 is fanboy bs. I'm going to come back around to finishing it, but it's dead last on my xbox to do list. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am.
LOL at the OMG so much gore hype. Bad guy heads just pops off in weird unnatural angles. All the OMGore shots have made me roll my eyes.

Oh and FarCry 1 > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > FarCry 2 ...
Shit the AI in FarCry 2 is probably worst than the AI in FarCry 1. I mean at least in the first one they set base alarms off, get reinforcments, form up to hunt you down. In FarCry 2 as soon as you get near them they bee-line straight towards you firing dead accurate.
FarCry 2 could have been an amazing game however Ubisoft fucked up too many vital areas.

it was really good when you got half way through the game. But until then it was kind of boring.

I'm finding it really hard to comprehend how retarded you are if you think Far Cry 2 is a godlike game or something, it's the biggest piece of over-hyped shit this year and I haven't touched it since I got Fallout 3. Like Random pointed out, things that Far Cry 1 actually did do well, like the AI, are actually worst in Far Cry 2 !!! plus they should have kept the game more linear, because they clearly have no clue that non-linear does not mean simply place the same dumbshit enemies all over the entire map so when you're driving you have to get out and shoot some fucking african every 5 seconds. And that non-linear also doesnt mean the same boring repetitive fucking missions.
Also the graphics aren't good compaired to Crysis graphics, so I think they failed at everything when they made Far Cry 2, it's a half made game which I guess is designed for simple minded people who are in posession of an extra chromosome, like you.

If Ubisoft wanted to make FarCry 2 a decent 'open world, non-linear' game they need to take it back to the drawing board and put another couple years worth of work back in it.
There is no substance to your existance in FarCry 2, you are there to just shoot and kill people. Now if they funneled you down a corridor where they can control your experience far better this would have been fun. However the open-world mechanic has severly limited their options for missions.
It's a shame ... I'm in no way happy this game flopped, no one should be happy when a game fails, however this one just stung that little bit more.
...
...
Plus why the fuck did Ubisoft have to use the FarCry francise for this ...

Personally, I feel that both Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 were huge disappointments. Just finished the latter and the ending was underwhelming and the main story way to short, as is usually the case with Bethesda games I'm afraid.
A good game but way too little of it, and Far Cry 2 seems almost as boring as Crysis (which was horrible imo).
No thanks, I'll continue on King's Bounty: The Legend instead! :p

I can't believe you thought crysis was horrible...
It combined cutting edge graphics, dynamic gameplay, and a fantastic story...
Whats not to like?

i dont know about the story line being fantastic, it was OK at best in my opinion, the real meat of the game was in the technology and the sandbox experience

So I tore myself away from Fallout 3 this weekend and installed Farcry 2. After reading through all the posts on this thread my question on the enemy AI is answered. I was a little dissapointed that they run around like chickens with their heads cut off and even run right past me while I am shooting up their friends.
While I do agree that there should have been a more structured storyline, the sandbox elements are kinda fun. For me this will be the game to play after I have a rough day and work and just wanna sit back and enjoy blowing shit up.
