YouTube - Mirror's Edge Demo
Were expectations met? Just played the demo 3 times there and I am quite pleased. Timing is so important in this game and there is a nice learning curve which requires a lot of skill and a lil luck. When the demo started up and I say jump was (LB) I thought oh no but all the controls work really well.

I liked it. The first person view worked well surprisingly.
I kept fucking up during a long jump from one building to another where you had to cling onto a pipe. Forgot how to grab onto those things.

the only issue i have with this game: This game relies on you going fast to get the full effect, and to have fun. Because of this the game needs to practically tell you where to go (which it does) otherwise the effect wouldnt be working. Because of that i cant see this game being very hard, but only repetitive and easy. Im hoping they find a way make the later levels harder (maybe like you have to pull off giant ridiculous combos) without forcing it onto us.
I wish they showed us gunplay in the demo, because i sucked at disarming the guys and it would of been easier to shoot. It was fun though.

Looks great, though I'm thinking it's gonna get repetitive really quickly. Seems like it's linear gameplay too, which is a shame, because it'd be great if you couold choose your own path through the level. Also, I'm not sure about the red shading marking which way to go, if there's a difficulty setting that can turn that off, it'd be alot better.

There is, check the options.
I think it's called "runner vision" or something.

Reason I won't buy this.

I will definately be renting this game. It is really fun and really cool but not worth the 59.99 price tag.

Not every game needs to be free roaming, you know. I don't see what the problem is with a decent linear game every once in a while.

Free roaming gives replay value. I'll rent this, beat the story and be done with it.

I liked the demo. Played it 3 times now, using a slightly different route each time. Like it says in the demo, the red path isn't necessarily the fastest path. The controls are really fluid and not clunky at all. I'm glad there's several ways to take out enemies, and it's cool how you can use their own weapons against them. That slow-mo thing is pretty kickass too, though I can see myself using it just to show off and nothing more.
