so i just got a huge 23" cinema display for my g4 mac and aparently the card thats in there isnt giving the monitor enough power or something (just a black screen, with the power button light on), so my question is what is a good video card to get for a g4 with a 23" display?

and sorry this isnt video game relevant, just seems like the most fitting place.

Unlike the rest of the people here, I actually did some reading, according to Apple, the 23" Cinema display needs the Geforce 2MX card with an ADC connector if you have G4.

You do realize he is talking about a G4 Mac, a platform that ended production 4 years ago. It is no longer a supported platform, Apple isn't even using PPC processors anymore. He is kinda limited to cards that were available when the system was still in production.

my dad has had a mac cube for fucking YEARS and it was, yes, expensive when he got it but in the mean time, he has had almost no problems with it, where as the family 'PC' which was supposed to be a 'cube killer' has had numerous problems, and we've had it fixed multiple times and low and behld, it kind of payed off to pay a little more earlier on. but whatever.

I'm not hating on you owning a mac. I'm just stating my opinion. Honestly, if they weren't so god damned expensive (I'm poor as fuck), their OS was a bit less.... crappy? I can't think of the word. I would probably consider maybe getting one in the very distant future. A lot of it is the community of Mac users, who think they're just more badass than you for some reason. And people who say "its better for photo and video editing", but give you absolutely no reason why.

Having said that, enjoy your mac.

Well since this is the gaming section, I would say first off you are extremely limited on the types of games you can play on it. No hardcore gamer would ever consider getting a Mac.

BTW I wouldn't call OSX crappy, but I would say the OS is "limiting" based on my experience using it versus a Windows based PC..and not just because of the lack of gaming.
