Did anyone play the demo yet? I did its a fun game def. worth a buy but i just wish i never played zombie panic source. then i would of thought this game would be the greatest zombie shooter ever.
Now of course left 4 dead is gonna be a better game simply because zombie panic is just a mod but there are things that zombie panic does better than left 4 dead...
1. Realism... In Zombie panic mod you can only pick up so much ammo or weapons before you slow down and become so slow zombies can literally own you no matter what gun you have. This is great realism its also a great incentive for people not to hoard weapons or ammo. Also the game is great in that you dont start off with big weapons. you got a certain amount of time (zombies start on the other side of the map so it takes them a min or two to get to your side) to pick up weapons and ammo before zombies start showing up to eat you.
2. more players in multiplayer... left 4 dead only allows 4 people to play co op online, zombie panic mod allows as many as 32 players to play with you or against you (players are zombies).
3. scare factor... although not very scary after awhile the first time you play zombie panic source you do feel some sort of fear when first playing. smart gameplay (because players are zombies) love to hide and jump at you behind cornors and what not and it does provide a scare factor. Later on once you get use to the game it starts to wear off but it does have its moments...
as far as left 4 dead goes, to be honest it has almost no scare factor to it simply because the graphics look too cartoonish and its more of a button mashing fps (if that makes sense). Theres nothing scary about having a shot gun with 130 rounds of ammo and just walking around blowing zombie heads off one after another. Its fun for awhile but it doesn't wanna make you play the same map over again...
Which brings me to my biggest point...
4. replay factor - in zombie panic source the replay factor is amazing because not every game is the same in that you have the same weapons everytime. they spawn in different spots every time the map starts over. so one game you could be the big badass with a magnum gun and the next map your hiding behind the guy with the magnum because all you got is a pistol.
as far as left 4 dead goes you get like 2-4 choices of guns when you start the game to go out and kill zombies with (from what im seeing in the demo). You pick a gun and you get huge amounts of ammo with the gun and then you set off on your quest to kill zombies and get to the objective. Now its a fun game but it has no real replay value. Once you've run through a map theres really no reason to try it again because its not really that hard (from what ive seen so far) and there isnt enough variance to do it again. the most you could probably change about it is what guns you want to start off which and which ones to pick later on in the mission.
So with that being said i pre-ordered the game (just to try the demo through steam). and its worth a buy but if your looking for a more realistic type zombie game you might wanna check out zombie panic mod. Overall from my experience in playing the demo i give it a 8/10.

Well it is a valve game, so they don't usually concentrate on graphics besides making it look decent. From playing the demo I feel like I'm playing a counter strike mod. I'll probably still buy it just simply because I love killing zombies and this is a lot of fun with friends. If you don't have xbox live, or no PC, then I wouldn't bother with it, because you'll get bored quickly with the single player.

Left 4 dead demo is being retarded.
Got the code and everything, so i go to the website, click download demo, asks me if i already have steam which I do so i click yes, it loads up steam, brings up the same identical page that says "install game" n whatever, I click it, it does nothing and just reloads the same page. Meh.
EDIT: Nevermind, got it installing now.

Sounds like the OP would like it more on a harder difficulty setting.

Zombie Panic is a Source mod, i.e you need a source game to run it, HL2, DOD2, CS:S etc. Well from what I remember anyway.
But yeah it's pretty good, I got bored of it a while ago though used to play the shit out of it.
Another fun one is Zombie master, which is more of a co-op with 1 of the players being the Zombie master and its like a strategy game to him, spawn zombies and control them, set off traps etc.
Play upgrades servers for both of them, more fun after youve played the normal to hell, well when you get decent upgrade levels anyway, can be a bit unbalanced on certain maps though I got maximum speed on the Zombie master server I play and i can get through places quickly and zoom through all the zombies, mainly due to the map being more open.

I remember playing that a long time ago.

Well it is a pretty fun and simple game, although It feels a bit easy sometimes, other times its no so easy ( playing on expert ), i love how the maps play out differently each time, Tank is the baddest zombie ever, it owned us quite a few times, if you dont find assault rifle on expert and have to fight a tank it usually ends with everyone dead, he floors you in 1 swift hit and he can smash concrete things and throw giant rocks at everyone, its pretty damn funny trying to kill him and save your friends at the same time.

I know right? guy is a monster. I had the assault rifle, and he was straight fucking up the chick on our team. I was unloading on his face with the M4...it didn't seem to phase him at all.

Lol, a minute ago i was the only one left and i managed to finish the Tank off with the sniper rifle, it does pretty decent damage, but then i had to hobble with 1hp and kill about 20 zombies to get to the door that respawns my 3 mates, managed to do it felt so relieved haha.

I wish you could grab an alternate weapon to the sniper rifle. I don't like the thought of running around with a sniper rifle and pistols with zombies on top of me.

You have to think though, Left 4 Dead will already be set up quit well for people to mod it into a better game on the PC.

L4D on PC is going to be amazing. Imagine some of the maps that guys like Darthbrush are going to make, imagine the awesome updates (I think Valve already confirmed a flame thrower or something of the like) its going to receive like TF2.
The scare factor? I'm playing with maxed out darkness, and the first time a boss zombie came at me or alerted a which, I was close to screaming, LMFAO. I find it way better than ZP:S, maybe its just me but I played it for a month with a few friends and it got kind of lame, I like L4D because you gotta keep moving, gotta do objectives (some maps had that in ZP, but not in the same style) and the boss zombies are going to be fucking cool when players can use them. They aren't overpowered, but if you get skilled at using them, its going to be deadly if the human players aren't ready.
Overall, I'd give L4D a 9.0 for just the demo. There ARE a few things they could improve on (menu, some graphic glitches, etc.) but I find it more scarier (or "HOLY SHIT"-ier), harder, funner and more team based.
I can't wait till launch when all scenarios, versus mode, player created maps, skins, mods, come out for it.
EDIT: Zombie Master is my favorite, non-steam Zombie game for HL2.

Every time you play the game it's a different experience. The AI Director always changes the spawn locations of zombies and bosses so it doesn't make sense to me when you say there is no replay value. And in regard to the difficulty, you can always play Expert mode and from the looks of it, it is down right hard to win without some1 dieing. Check out this video.

Does anyone else find "realism" in a zombie game a little...ironic almost?

well i mean if i wanted to play a zombie shooter id play house of the dead. im sure everyone has played or is tired of just click and shoot blow 1000 zombies up kind of game, If your gonan make a zombie game at least make it seem as real as possible because that just makes it fun its a "What if" kind of factor and im sure having limited amounts of ammo adds to the fear factor and strategy factor instead of just running room to room shooting your way through everything...

someone already answered this but the answer was tottally wrong.
There are two maps to play that are in the campaign No mercy ( campaigns have a total of 5 maps ) you get to play the first 2, 1. Apartments 2. Subway ( something like that anyway, basically train station underground )
