Little Big Planet

10 Presentation

The way that everything is intertwined and flows and works together is perfect. The tagging system needs to be fixed, but that's it.

9.5 Graphics

Pixar would be proud. The visuals are cute, clean, stylistic and simply beautiful, while the art direction is absolutely top-notch.

9.5 Sound

The soundtrack is as perfect as it gets. On the editor side, there could be more specific samples, but you won't be counting while playing the Story mode.

9.5 Gameplay

The controls could be a tad tighter and the plane-shifting stuff needs work, but the overall package design is simply phenominal. The editor is amazing given that it's on a console.

9.5 Lasting Appeal

There's a ton to keep you coming back to the Story levels, but the user-created content will give LBP life for a long, long, long time.

9.5 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

According to IGN of course.

Now the question arises, to buy or not to buy? I can buy either this, Resistance 2, or anything else, but I'd prefer one of those two.

What do you think?

WTF is up with your font?

Anyway, they're obviously completely different games so I can't say one is a better buy than the other.

I have both games, but personally I'd personally stay with LBP because it's something fresh and new. Resistance 2 is just another fps'r in my opinion. From the 6 hours I've put into R2 I haven't seen anything great about the game.

Thinking long term, years from now I can see people still creating content for LBP, whereas R2 will be replaced with the newest Metal Gears of Duty 6.

I lol'd. Ya LBP is awesome, but creating good levels takes effort and skill, so if you're lazy then that might not appeal to you. However you can still always download other peoples levels. They really are apples and oranges, but I'd give LBP a try since there really is nothing else like it at the moment.

Metal Gears of Duty 6.

Haha, good one.
I'll definitely pick LBP up when I got the cash. A sidescrolling platform game with awesome design will be a nice change from all the FPS and TPS games.

And a lot of the content will probably be retarded, but that's part of the fun. Anyway, here are some of the most creative user-created levels made at this point.

I'm loving LBP so far but I only rented it. I might pick it up later on used or when a store offers a free gift card with purchase or something.

My only irk is that a lot of people's games are sooo laggy. Once you find a good game though... you can play for hours.

I'm also not a fan of the 1,000,000,000,000,000 point levels b/c the amount of objects on the screen lags the ps3.

It's a 2.5d platformer with a level creator. You jump on shit

I bought it and now I'm bored of it. The multiplayer is fun, but it's laggy online and is hard to connect with other people sometimes. It also doesn't work as well as you would hope since you have to share a screen with 3 other people sometimes and there is so much going on it can be frustrating. I don't see why you need to share a screen with everyone online, but I guess they want everyone to stick together.

I hate it when you play online and you're either falling or going fast and the death timer starts ticking b/c the game can't keep up with you.

It would be better if you didn't have to share screens.... if a character falls behind or goes too far ahead then just put a little blip on the screen showing their position.

iv had it for a few days... made a level called "The Tomb" ... AKA, the Tomb of Farts... quite possible the most offensive level you will ever play

You pull shit out of a guys ass, feed it to someone else, flush your self down a toilet which empties into a guys shower, bounce on some Ass's and go up a stream of piss before aborting a baby and putting it in a dumpster. This raises you to a slide which runs you in a guys mouth and out his ass...

My psn is "Odiousennui" if you have the game, favorite my awsome level.

I fucking love this game

Damn, this crown looks badass! I want it! Too bad you have to be an uber creative level designer to possible stand a chance of winning.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/11/18/littlebigchallenge-celebrating-ps3s-2nd-anniversary/

Now finally LBP fans (in the US) get a chance to put their creative and game design skills to compete for the Prize Crown with our next LittleBigChallenge: Happy Birthday PS3! We are challenging you to create an original LittleBigPlanet level celebrating the PLAYSTATION 3 second anniversary. This is how it works-

1. Create an original LittleBigPlanet level celebrating the PLAYSTATION 3 second anniversary.

2. You must name your Level using this format. “LBC1 -< YourLevelNameHere >”.

3. Publish your Level to the LittleBigPlanet online server at any time up until 11:59am PST December 9, 2008 when the contest closes.

4. Send an e-mail submission to community_support@playstation.sony.com and indicate your level name (LBC1 - < YourLevelNameHere >) in the subject line. Include your PlayStation Network ID along with the name of your Level in your e-mail submission.

Once this is done, your Level will be judged by the LittleBigPlanet Community. Community members will be able to vote on multiple Levels by adding a “Heart” to each one they like.
They may only add one Heart to any particular Level. The top five qualifying Levels with the most hearts that
meet the entry requirements as stated in the official rules will be selected as the winners.

So start creating your level today! Good luck to all of you. You might be one of the talented few to sport a LBP Prize Crown online!

Please go the LittleBigPlanet News Site for all the Challenge details and official rules and be sure to publicize and promote your level by creating a Workshop and letting the community know about your level on our Forums.

Check back on 12/11 when we announce the winners. Good Luck…and we look forward to playing your levels.
