is it easy to make something fade to black?

ive llooked for tutorials on it and they say to click Modify > Instance

tehre is no instance in my flash program. i have MX. waht should i do please?

Scene Transitions, then click on the option that says "change to color" and put black. Choose the number of frames you want that to last and you're set and done.

i dont know where to find scene transitiosn, its not in modify.
