New Intake

Wow I don't know why but I am really excited. I get to build an engine for my auto class. I have to pay for it all cause I am upgrading a bunch of parts like making the 302 into a 347 stroker kit and heads and everything I want to upgrade. But I just got a new 5.0. H.O. intake for 25.

A stock 5.0 intake won't be enough to feed a 347........Trickflow makes excellent ones, and a cheap way out is a cobra intake at least....but I know you're on a budget, maybe try ebay or a messageboard.......Good luck man!

yeah I figured that but the intake was only 25 bucks so atleast I can clean it up and resell probably for more. And no its not college I am only a junior in high school. Last thing I hope to put it in a fox body between 87-93

Try this Goth, you can find a machine shop and tell them you want the intake(upper-lower) honed out. With the upper intake, since the runners are curved downward, they might have to cut it into two, but it should give close to 30 more horsepower. It should cost about 250-300 dollars anything more then it's not worth it

THis isn't a stock intake is it? Because it will not allow enough air for the motor man you'll be choking that shit up.

At least go with an edelbrock (sp) rpm, Trick flow R or something that can flow some air. Stroker kits aren't anything to skimp on so if your going to do it then do it right.

I have a bitch ass mofo on living around the block from me with a 92 notch... he dumped 7 thousand dollars to a motor shope to build his 347 stroker motor with a 300hp shot of juice.... car's totally a low 11 second car or high 10 with a decent driver but this bitch talked soo much smack to me..

I raced him and my point to this small story is the fact that he ran a 14.32 and I ran a 12.57 :D Why you ask? because his dumb ass had the money but can't drive the car.. he's scared of it and doesn't know how to bang gears like he should be... So just because your building a 347 stroker mustang.. You have to also think about traction (tires, supension etc.) because if you can't hook or drive then it's a waste of money :D

but good luck with your project it sound killer... in my hs auto shope.. we worked on the teachers 60 RS camaro.. it was awsome

The stock 5.0 intake will need to be cut in half in order for a good port job to be done. I've done this before and it cost me around $350. It did yeild some hp gain for me but not as much as my trickflow street heat intake did. By that I mean "seat of the pants" results.

I'd say spend the dough on another intake and you don't have to wait on the machine shope plus you'll get more gain and always have the port/polish option avalible to you later if needed.

E303 cam, 50lb injectors, MS extended rev limiter, 70 mm throttle body, 73 mm CL mass air, the list is endless..but my baby is the Vortech

FYI....if you want more bang for the buck, try to find some 351 Windsor heads HO used somewhere. It doesn't matter if they're in bad shape or not cause it's always better to do a 3 angle valve job. I've found these heads to be more hp gains for the least amount of money..good luck

In my 90LX I had to part with I had TFS intake, gt40y heads, mac 1 5/8inch headers, SVO 65mm tb and 67mm egr spacer, 24lb injectors, 73 C&L meter for 24lbs, B303, t-rex pump, anderson power pipe etc... etc.. I had an Atrim but traded the head unit in for an Strim. I love modded foxes

Nice setup BoostP... from the looks of this you were running at least low 13's to high 12's, depending on hooking up off the line..with slicks, probably 12.6's..the Strim on the other hand with a smaller pulley would get ya 11's ..I hope... I love hitting the local Mustang clubs
