Be realistic here. Would it?

I don't think it would work if it used normal MMO gameplay mechanics. The only way I could see it being fun is if you have more direct control of the combat. The gameplay would really have to be totally different from any other MMO or it would just be like a mod for WoW.
IMO the only way it would work is if it was PvP centric and focused on capturing planets and stuff from the other factions.

Meh, I don't think a Starcraft MMO would work very well tbh.

Tabula Rasa wasn't that bad. I wish people would stop acting like it was a fucking Daikatana MMO.

True that, it was a pretty solid MMO.

Let's be realistic?
Many of the players of WoW are fans of Blizzard franchises in general. They enjoy Diablo, Warcraft, and Starcraft. It's possible that Diablo 3 will cut into the profits that Blizzard is receiving for WoW, but the different natures of the two titles makes that unlikely.
Now, if Blizzard were to make a Starcraft MMO, they could easily copy the format of WoW, and still be extremely successful with it. The problem is, they'll lose part of their player base in WoW, and that part will move over to Starcraft. Even if the gameplay is substantially different, they'll still be facing a loss of income from WoW.
Now, at first, this might not sound like that big of a deal, but keeping those servers up costs money. If their financing two MMO's at once, they'll have to maintain quite a player base with WoW, and gain a huge player base with Starcraft to maintain the income they're seeing. The amount of money involved in a venture as large as another MMO and maintaining said MMO just means that it's not worth it. They'll see a higher profit margin just keeping the single MMO going.
In other words, a Starcraft MMO will not happen until the player base in WoW tanks. We're being realistic here.

Doubtful.
WoW appeal goes beyond blizzard fanboys. RPG nerds' favorite genre is the Dungeons and dragons type of world that warcraft offers.

Starcraft has lasers and shit, wraths and guns. However Warcraft has magic ...
It's a tough call ... on an 'galatical' sense then StarCraft would win. Couple nukes = fun.
On a battlefield ... WoW would win, bullets don't mean shit against magic, armor and fireball spells.

This.
This is why a Starcraft MMO wouldn't "destroy" or even match WoW.

No, they'll just get more money, it's all going to blizzard anyway.

Someone gets D3, they stop playing WoW, they cancel their WoW subscription, Blizzard loses money.
A thousand people do this, just 0.01% of the population of WoW, Blizzard loses (at minimum) 13,000 a month.

Why would they cancel their subscriptions? Anyone who plays WoW and is looking forward to D3 would make the time to play both.

You judge games based on how much money the companys are trying to rake in?
That explains your love for Nintendo.

So, you're saying that not even a fraction of a fraction of the population would quit? People have quit WoW for TF2, Crysis, and even XBox titles. What makes you think D3 would be any different?

Tell me, where am I judging the game? Did I ever say the game would be good or bad?
I judge games based off of my own opinion of them. You know my love for indie games. Use a little bit of critical thinking.

this is true, however some people never played WoW or WarCraft, but did play StarCraft. so yes if a SC-MMO were to happen, Blizzard would have to look at not only how many people would 'quit' WoW for SC-MMO, but also how many more people would be drawn in because of the fan base of strictly StarCraft.
some people arent fans of the company, but fans of the games and the world surrounding them.
So I think a 'World of StarCraft' or 'Universe of StarCraft' is possible.
