Uhm, you can join the alliance on the Kilrogg server, its a west coast server, and its a good one. Once you get your character made, add HOISER to your friends list and i'll answer any questions you have.
But to pick a class to be, what style do you want to play?... Heres a basic class summary, and class roll.
"Tank" - to be a tank is to keep the main boss fighting you instead of your allies, not only bosses but other guys too, you basically take all the damage while your friends do the damage. Usually you use a shield and a weapon. If your a druid, you shift into bear form to tank.
"DPS" - Stands for damage per second, meaning that all your job is to do tons of damage, sometimes you can get little perks depending on your class. Such as picking locked chests, or "CC" meaning crowd control. (when shit hits the fan, you use CC to keep them stunned/frozen/incapacitated.
"Healer" - It is what it is, heal your friends in a raid, you take a lot of blame/responsibility if the group dies.
*********
Druids (can tank, heal, dps, and ranged dps) - Druids are the keepers of the world and masters of nature with a diverse array of abilities. They are powerful healers, capable of curing poisons and raising fallen comrades in the thick of battle. Druids also command nature's wrath, calling down ranged blasts of energy, summoning swarms of insects, or entangling their foes in the earth. But druids are also masters of the wild, able to shapeshift into a great bear, cat, or even sea lion, gaining their powers in combat or travel. Druids are a diverse class with a variety of playstyles, capable of filling any role.
Comments: Excellent soloing class; excellent healers
Hunters (ranged dps, melee dps) - Hunters are deadly marksmen, capable of bringing their enemies down from a distance with bows or rifles. Skilled survivalists, they can track enemies or lay traps to damage and entrap their foes. Hunters also possess a primal connection to the beasts of Azeroth, capable of taming and training them to keep as loyal guardians. Wearing light to medium armor, hunters can also dual wield weapons in combat, fighting beside their pets in battle.
Comments: Excellent for those who like to solo with pets
Mages (Ranged dps) - Mages wield the elements of fire, frost, and the arcane to destroy or neutralize their enemies. They are a robed class that excels at dealing massive damage from afar, casting elemental bolts at a single target, or raining destruction down upon their enemies in a wide area of effect. Mages can also augment their allies' spell-casting powers, summon food or drink to restore their friends, and even travel across the world in an instant by opening arcane portals to distant lands.
Comments: Excellent primary ranged damage dealers
Paladins (Holy hybrid, can (single target) heal, tank, and melee dps) - Guardians of the Holy Light and defenders of the Alliance, paladins bolster their allies with holy auras and blessing to protect their friends from harm and enhance their powers. Wearing heavy armor, they can withstand terrible blows in the thickest battles while healing their wounded allies and resurrecting the slain. In combat, they can wield massive two-handed weapons, stun their foes, destroy undead and demons, and judge their enemies with holy vengeance. Paladins are a defensive class designed to outlast their opponents.
Comments: A more melee oriented hybrid
Priests (Heal, ranged dps) - Priests are the masters of healing and preservation, restoring their wounded allies, shielding them in battle, and even resurrecting their fallen comrades. While they have a variety of protective and enhancement spells to bolster their allies, priests can also wreak terrible vengeance on their enemies, using the powers of shadow or holy light to destroy them. They are a diverse and powerful class, highly desirable in any group, capable of fulfilling multiple roles.
Comments: The most sought after class for any group
Rogues (melee dps) - Rogues are a lightly armored melee class capable of dealing massive damage to their enemies in a flurry of attacks. They are masters of stealth and assassination, passing by enemies unseen and striking from the shadows, then escaping from combat in the blink of an eye. Rogues can also craft poisons that damage or cripple their enemies, reducing their effectiveness in battle. Groups will find rogues valuable, for not only do they deal massive damage, but they can open locked doors or chests, and disarm hidden traps as well.
Comments: Favorite among those who like to deal damage
Shaman (elemental hybrid, can heal, ranged and melee dps) - Shaman are the spiritual leaders of their tribes and clans. They are masters of the elements, using spells and totems that heal or enhance their allies in battle while unleashing the fury of the elements upon their foes. Shaman can wear medium armor, and even wield massive two-handed weapons in combat. They are a versatile class that can wade into battle, restoring their allies while hurling elemental bolts of lightning at their enemies.
Comments: A more magic oriented hybrid
Warlocks (Ranged dps) - Warlocks are masters of shadow, flame, and demonic power. They are a robed class that excels at plaguing their enemies with disease or curses, hurling bolts of fire or shadow energy across the battlefield, and summoning demons to aid them in combat. While warlocks are powerful casters that deal damage from a distance, their demonic powers can also protect or support their allies in battle, or even summon other players from across the world using ritual magic to conjure portals.
Comments: Excellent solo class
Warriors (Tank, melee dps) - Warriors can be a raging berserker or an iron-clad juggernaut, capable of withstanding tremendous attacks while protecting their allies from harm. They have a wide variety of attacks that do everything from cripple their enemies, to dealing massive amounts of damage in a single retaliatory blow, and enhancing their allies' fighting ability with battle shouts. They excel at fighting multiple opponents at once, gaining rage from every blow dealt or received to unleash their attacks. Warriors are a versatile class with a variety of play-styles to choose from.
Comments: Excellent for those who like to take damage
Deathknights (Tank, melee dps) - The fearsome death knight, World of Warcraft's first Hero class, is not your average adventurer seeking to prove his or her worth on Azeroth's fields of battle. No longer servants of the Lich King, they begin their new calling as experienced, formidable adversaries, heavily armed and armored and possessing an arsenal of deadly and forbidden magic learned in the Lich King's thrall.
Comments: Jump start to level 55 (must have a character at 55 before making a deathknight)

^^ Best advice you're gonna get when it comes to classes.
Favorite magic class is mage. Favorite melee is Warrior. Which is the standard for both xD
PS. You can't make a Death Knight until you have a level 55 character of any class.

Either the Hunter or the Rouge sounds good. The tanks dont appeal to me, it seems like they would die too often.

I hate rogues. They're squishy.
Squishy = They take damage easily.

well when your tanking, your almost constantly being healed.
Well not to discourage you from playing what you want (or to start a class argument) but hunters are fun and easy to play when you first start out, but if you are going to raid, people generally don't like hunters for stupid reasons which still baffle me, and rogues are sorta on the bottom of the damage list right now... But if you could care less about raiding, theres always arena and PVP!... Hunters own the battlegrounds like a motherfucker. It just depends i guess, plus rogues are hard to master.

If you want a good class to start off with for solo play, go with a hunter. Beast specced hunters are fantastic for soloing.

Grinding with my frost mage was one of the funnest experiences I've had in WoW, of course you have to spec fire afterwards(when you reach 70, not sure what spec is best for 80 now) for more single target damage for raids. If you are interested in mages at all, and want to level up quick with him, watch this video.

-Instances = dungeon runs
-BG = Batteground (WSG = Warsong Gulch)

do all quests available to you...or at least most. questing is how to level quickly in WoW, but take some time out for instances and such. also rest is important. if you log out inside of an inn or are just in a main city for a certain ammount of time, you start to get rest xp. this gives you almost double xp for kills and is really handy in the later levels
if you want to get to 80 fast, make a hunter. they are the known fastest levelers, but dont fit well in groups. if you want to be overall good at everything. either make a Druid, Shaman, or Paladin. all 3 are pretty easy to get along with as a new player. reason being is that the druid can be a healer, tank, dps, or magic dps. shaman can also do the same plus they have totems which are very helpful. paladins are incredibly good tanks if you can get good and are also average healers or could be dps also
oh and with money, dont beg or ask for cash. at lvl 5 you can get 2 professions. depending on your class, you may want a certain profession, but the 3 money makers are mining, skinning, jewlcrafting (and enchanting sometimes.)
to cut all the crap, just make a class according to what you like most. that will most likely end up being your best decision. remember you can always make another character

i agree with you with the paladin part, you CAN'T die, and their super fun dps. and say you want to try out tanking or healing, all you have to do is re-do your talents and gear.

I had an Undead Rogue level 37. It was EXTREMELY fun killing enemies in seconds, but got extremely tedious towards the end that I did play on that character. I'm going to make a Warlock and Frost Mage next time I get a new computer and WoW again. Hunters were extremely fun to use. Especially when you lay down traps that can do a number of things to your enemy.
But the descriptions of battle never appealed to me before deciding to play WoW. Leveling Professions and doing quests were possibly the funnest parts of WoW. Battling was extremely fun, too. You'll just know when you actually start.

Hunters are by far the easiest, if you want to pretty much do nothing but pressing one button and topping damage meters do that.
Don't roll a warrior for your first, stance dancing+a shit ton of different ways to play them will make it a nightmare for your first class.
Rogues are good for PvP, other than that they bring nothing to raids except DPS, and hunters do better than rogues at that anyways, and hunters have more utility.
Maybe I'm biased, but hunters are the best, imo.

The most badass class is a Warlock, but I would say it is the hardest class as well.. especially with the sheer amount of spells that they have! Picking a healer guarentees you a spot in any group or raid, which is good.. that and a tank. Everyone is DPS these days. EVERYONE!

Alliance generally attracts little, annoying kids, while the Horde attracts more mature, older gamers. This is from personal experience across numerous servers.
