Anyone ever return anything to GameStop bought with a gift card?

The other day I bought a keypad for my PS3 with a gift card my aunt gave me with $40 on it. I paid $40 of the keypad with the gift card, and the rest with cash. My question is, will GameStop give me cash back, store credit, or $40 store credit, and the rest in cash? By the way, it hasn't been seven days, so I can still return it.

They're sealed with a piece of tape and the case is covered in oily fingerprints. I'd be embarrassed to give away a gutted game as a gift.
