Killzone 2 Demo

For those who have played it, what are your thoughts?

Pros
- Graphically the game looks amazing. The best looking console game I've played hands down. The attention to detail is fantastic. Everything down to the weld marks on the gun are visible. Particle effects are really taken to the extreme and add a lot to the overall experience.

- The sound really pulls you in. Gunfire all around and explosions going off really give it a gritty feel.

- The enemy AI seems really good. The enemies take cover and respond in a realistic manner. (at least I think so) If they're being fired upon they'll take cover and blind fire poking out from various angles in order to get the drop on you.

Cons
- The overall controls feel slightly sluggish. I realize they're going for a more realistic approach, from what I've heard anyways. You character feels very heavy without a whole lot of lateral movement. Even with the sensitivity cranked to the max my guy felt like he took forever and a day to turn around and to jump.

- The aiming is much more difficult than in previous FPS. Going along with what I mentioned above, when you're aiming, it feels as if as if your momentum plays an overbearing role making accuracy a big issue. Perhaps it's just a matter of getting used to it, but I didn't care for it.

- Your teammates seems pretty worthless. They'll spout out commands and such but as far as actually helping you take anyone out you can forget about it. At least that's what it seemed like.

- Your character seems to be about 4'10". I don't know what the deal is, but apparently your guy is a fucking midget.

- The helgaust take about 6-8 shots each to bring down on average difficulty. I'd hate to see what it's like on the hardest setting.

Overall I though the game was very impressive looking, but I really disliked the controls and apparent dwarf character you play as. As of now I can't say I'm going to buy this. Probably going to be a gamefly rental unless the mutliplayer is really outstanding, but with the controls the way they are I can't see that as being the case. Only time will tell, though. Your thoughts?

I thought it was good. Nothing revolutionary, but i believe my money was well spent.


I personally thought the sluggish feel to your character was a nice touch, as in i didn't feel like i was hovering above the ground, as i do with most FPSs.


The aiming is more of your own personal gripe, I think it is something I'll get used to after a while, or perhaps after i change the sensitivity.....


Overall, i found it to be quite fun, and i'm looking forward to the 27th.

No,Basically is the best looking game on consoles for now, it beats gears of war 2,halo 3,Resistance 2,Metal gear solid and it also has some darn good enemy A.I which does not pop out on the same spot every time . I also love that they dont have the unlimited respawning like in COD . I really think this game will be awesome in multiplayer once everybody gets used to the controls.

My sentiments exactly. The controls may be a bit dodgy (you can change them) but once everybody is adjusted the multiplayer should be a hell of a lot of fun.

As far as i'm concerned when i buy games My opinion is the only one that matters. Not what reviews say.


I personally hate resistance, (reminds me too much of halo [another blatantly average overhyped FPS]) and i do like gears much more. But it still isn't that great. The dialogue sucks, the story overall is pure shit, the gameplay itself is about the only thing Epic did right, and apparently gears 2 has a severely broken Multiplayer.


But its obvious your a fanboy, so honestly just shut the fuck up.

Holy shit, I just finished the demo. I fucking loved it! Looks fantastic on my new 46'' Plasma, the controls weren't that bad (imo) other than zooming in and taking out my knife, and the gameplay is just fun. I gotta get use to the cover system though, but I love the realistic movement speed.

Games like killzone 2 just seem like another fps, i never could play halo unless it was co-op with a friend, i just find FPS's boring to play solo these days unless multiplayer. They're usually the same, game looks good tho, shame i was playing on a 16 inch portable non high def tv though hahaha.

Oh well, i dropped by that Blockbuster I mentioned earlier and I was able to pick up this game today. I guess I'll take a break from SF4 and pop it in tonight.

From what i've read, apparently the single player storymode is very short... something like 4-7 hours, depending if you rush or take your time.
