I've never been a fan of the whole 'hate crime' nonsense. If your son/daughter is beaten and/or killed, and you are white, how the hell does the motive make any difference whatsoever to you, when you know that if your kid were black certain 'qualifications' would make the attacker subject to more charges??

Do hate crimes happen? Yes. Should they be subject to more/greater charges than any motive for any other crime? VERY debateable.
