View Full Version : Why is ebaums making it no longer worth while to come to the site anymore?

Anyone else notice how you can't come to ebaums anymore without the website attempting to continuously open pop up's, or continuously trying to reload the page to get all kinds of advertisements in. I am literally having a hard time with the website lagging because my computer is struggling to prevent the website from opening windows, playing sound files(from advertisements), and open programs on my computer.

There will be times where the website tries to open programs like adobe acrobat reader(not sure for what), which requires administrative permission, and even more frustratingly enough I will sometimes get the webpage to randomly redirect me to other sites. Like earlier today when I was checking out the monday morning randomness, I suddenly get my browser taken to a freaking lucrative investing company website which I wasn't even able to navigate away from, I had to close IE completely just to get rid of the damn thing.

This only happens on the ebaums website, and I am wondering what the hell is ebaums doing that is making it to where I don't want to even come to this site anymore. I have some very good protection software on my computer, and as I said, don't experience any of these problems anywhere else, so I am asking ebaums, WTF are doing?

I've never once experienced this flood of advertisements on the front page. Granted, I don't go there often, but I have firefox with Adblock+, and have never had a problem browsing Ebaumsworld. What shit explosion of a browser are you using that you're having this many issues? If you're using a pop-up/ad blocker, try turning off notifications and see if your browsing experience is more comfortable.

I've never had such extreme problems as what you've described, but I've heard others say similar. You're going to get a lot of responses saying simply to download Firefox and use adblock plus, that'll be the extent of any "help" you receive.

When an ad tries to open adobe, it's almost 99.99% of the time a trojan ad. While ebaumsworld.com has no real control over most of the ads, it does have control over the big banner ads on top and sides of the content. Since Zvue is having such an incredibly bad time with revenues in its other departments, eBaum's will continue to increase ad space on the website. As far as I know, Zvue will most likely have to shut down and sell eBaums World and the other media sites it acquired, so who knows what the next incarnation will bring.

Lately about 5 secs into a video the whole page gets redirected to a ad site. Really annoying, have to close that tab and click the vid link again. I use Firefox but not adblock+, Ill give it a try.

Go somewhere else if it's so bad. And stop using Internet Explorer. Hands down the worst browser.

-91% in 52 weeks isn't doing fine. If they're doing so well can I have the 9 prizes I haven't received?

Where are those numbers from?

And yes, I'm working on it as we speak.

Stock quotes for the past 52 weeks, I thought about investing in Zvue Corp when they took over eBaum's World, but can't bring myself to do it considering they went from $9/share to $.002 in 3 years :P

And thanks for working on our prizes.

I remember when they didn't give out prizes, there was less stress.

Also telling somebody who is complaining about popups to stop complaining because there are popup blockers is like telling somebody to stop complaining about having bricks thrown at him since he can get out of the way. It's still a choice of the website to allow the popups, and popunders, and pop everything else to exist. Not saying you don't deserve your revenue, but I got the implication that popups were inevitable like rain or something when they're clearly not.

OP of this thread has a piece of shit comp.

I don't like the ads either, but they have to make money somewhere....or are they just supposed to give you free shit all the time.
