View Full Version : Saleen S7
They aren't as cool as everyone thinks they are. Just because they look sweet, granted they do, the Ferrari Enzo eats it for lunch. Ferrari for life!
the enzo eats everything for lunch
i wonder if only f1 cars can keep up with that car in handling and speed
Yeah it's one hell of a car...I'd like mine in yellow, please. The Murcielago, while slower than the Saleen and Enzo, is the car I would like to have though. That car looks so great...I'd love to be seen rolling down the block in one of those....sorry, I get carried away. --Colt (The Dave Matthews Guru)

I hate to bring back an old thread but I have to back up the S7.
While the Enzo does beat out the S7 in a lot of categories, the S7 doesn’t miss by much. It's only .06 seconds slower then the Enzo in the 0-60 acceleration tests and only 16 feet further down the track when braking from that speed. This is truly amazing when you consider that the S7 has 100 less bhp and Saleen can sell the car for 250,000$ less.
The S7 is without a doubt the quickest American car ever made, it even beats out the mighty McLaren in most categories. The S7 has a higher estimated top speed while the Enzo has a faster quarter mile time. The S7 weighs less while the Enzo is quieter.
For what it's worth, I'll take the S7 over the Enzo any day.

Speaking of these types of cars, there's some cool stuff going on right now with the cars. You may know that Michael Schumacher helped Ferrari build the Enzo (he's a F1 driver if you didn't know). Now David Coulthard (another F1 driver) is supposedly helping McLaren make an even better descendent to the McLaren F1. From what I heard it's the McLaren F2, but that's just a rumor that I heard, don't know if it's true.

i liek the s7 better as well. doon't get me wrong, ive always been a supporter of ferrari/lambos, but i think in thsi case s7 is superior. ferrari is top-quality, with extremely well handled cars and speed, but they only really concentrate on that. the body isnt as well designed from a "cool" point of view, even though it is quite streamlined.teh interior could use some more thought. no sound system, but it has a/c. there's something not right there...
mmclaren cars are very good. their f1 races are etreme. handling is good speed is good (duhh)...i wonder if it will beat ferrari/s7 for their new "mclaren f2" design? if coulthard truly is on the design team for taht, it will be customed to his driving tactics, seeing as he and micheal are competitors.
(p.s. can anyone tell me if ferrari still has its engines in teh ass? i know they did on older models for air-cooling engine purposes)
(p.p.s. enzo can easily handle much better than any f1 car, because even though enzo does not have such hairtrigger turning, it will not lose its control liek what happens to some f1 cars when they hit something...)

I like my car better than all of them.
i'll take both an Enzo and a Murci over an S7. compared to those two, the S7 seems like a kit car. Its built by a company that tunes Mustangs, and has a Ford V8 in it. Even though it outperforms a Murci, that car is a Lamborghini from the ground up.

What do u mean if maybe only f1 cars can keep up with the enzo. The enzo is based off f1 cars but still weighs more and has less aerodaynamics. The enzo goes 0-60 in around three. F1 cars get to 100 even faster. The enzo is still a great car but i guarantee not as fast as an F1.

Isn't the Saleen S7 the only car that can drive upside if it maintains a specific speed? I remember reading this on a site. They claimed the Saleen S7 is modeled in a way that allows the air to be dragged into the body of the car and with high speeds, the can drive upside down by the air pressure pulling the car towards the surface it is driving on. I don't know if this has been tested or would ever be tested with such an expensive car, but if they do claim it, they probaby have some sort of proof. I'd like to see a video demonstration of that.

That post is all sorts of stupid. Do you realize how terrible the handling on the Enzo is compared to F1 racers? And the speed, thats been done time and time again. Id take a CCR over it anyday. Faster, better handling, over 150K cheaper, and no 5 year wait list.

i just wanted to bring my oppinions to this discussion. as usual, performance on this forum is measured only by acceleration and top speed. i´m quite certain that nothing on the roads today could keep up with the enzo on a track. keep in mind that even the predecessor, the F50, could quite well keep up with an F1 racer (true, i actually saw this on Top Gear). they weren´t equal, but the difference wasn´t devastating as one might presume...
still, since the enzo is built at a "money isn´t an obstacle" principle, you can´t compare it to the S7 (which is actually meant to be bought...).
P.S. i mean, the enzo even has a transmission from the Ferrari F1 racer (they´re very similar, just "softened" to work under "civil" conditions. oh, and to hold for longer than 300 km...)

Hmm....try reading my post. Would you like me to list some street legal cars that can beat the Enzo hands down?

All three Koenigseggs (CC, CC-V8, and CCR)
Dauer 962
McLaren F1
some Ultima GTR's
TVR Cerbera Speed 12
All of these, discluding the McLaren are all cheaper and faster than the Enzo.

Speed 12 would get abused. Same with the Koenigseggs.
The speed 12 was the biggest man made suicide machine after the Nakajima Ki115's which the Jap kamikaze pilots flew..lol
The thing is lethal, it weighs nothing and power anywhere upto 1000bhp.
I'd bet my life on the enzo beating the speed 12.
The CCR was tested on topgear a while ago, acceleration and topspeed were amazing, however they said it was twitchy and unpredictable on the track.
The mac F1 is dated, it could possible do the job, but agian it had complaints about the way it handled, Understeer if i remember.
A real race for the enzo would be..
Ultima Can-Am
F50GT
Schuppan 962CR.
Have a look at this. (http://www.supercars.net/Comp?sourceList=399&CompList=399-2406-1802-2606-669-2589-1711-1008-990-1412) ( no slalom results. )
I'm not a fan of the enzo but for track use i think it's pretty much unbeatable except for a few possibilities.

Heh, the Speed 12 would go pretty fast after you stop spinning the wheels. I have seen the CCR tested on many occasions, and the majority claims the handling is right up there with the Ford GT. You either love it or hate it, the production for that car is rather shaky. And as far as Supercars.net goes, a lot of the information is either missing or incorrect (3.2 seconds 0-60 for the CCR is unnoficial, stated by the makers). I tend to stay away from Supercars.net stats. Hey, might as well throw a Sportec 911 GT1 in the mix. Those are always fun.

we could all be reading different material but from what i've read:
top speeds:
enzo - estimated 217mph (cos its heavy)
mclaren f1 - 240mph
s7 - not yet clocked but on theory should be 220mph
besides the enzo looks like an insect car meant to boost the ego of some old fart...on corners it should beat the mclaren but doesnt stand a chance on the straights.
id go for the mclaren f1 as best car since were all just dreaming here :mouth_wat

the enzo can supposibly go like 230 or sumtin but i still say S7 is a lot better than enzo... the enzo is the ugliest car i have ever seen! i would take a murciaglo r-gt over both :mouth_wat
