They are the biggest thing on today's roads but i dont think they ar hazards. Maybe hazard to the driver because of the safty issues in the past.

The main problem with suvs in my opinion, is the fact that people buy them for everyday city driving and dont even intend on using it for what it was designed for - offroading.

Depending on the kind of suv, my statement may be slightly different. Many suvs, mostly american made ones, cannot go off road. And if even attempted, surely disaster will be right behind you.

The intrest of the suv buyer is unknown to me, unless they know about suvs and actually buy the suv to do what it was originally designed for.

My stereotypical view of the modern suv driver on the road is a short, young woman that is 5'4" and is not very self-confident and is afraid of driving. Her self confidence drives her to buy a big vehicle, to make her seem larger than everyone else. Her fear of driving is cured because if she gets in an accident, the other driver will die, and not her.

Another one of my stereotypes of an suv driver would be a man in his dress pants, white shirt, tie, on his cellphone, reading a paper, and driving eratically. This man is merely showing off his financial position, and showing everyone that he's better than you.

I agree. People buy suv's for small chores and just things that any car could do. Any car that's safer, and more economical.

And Hummers. They really bug me, people pay 50 grand for a Hummer and use it to drop the kids off at school and buy groceries. Hummers are for badass terrain and crap weather.

i'm more of a jeep guy. Jeeps aren't to big and are the kings of offroad. Especially the new Wrangler Rubicons. But those big Suburbans and Escalades and H2's unless u have a family of 7 they are unecessary and not very goood off road

well, if a family needs that many seats in a car and that much space, then both parents should get their tubes tied.

LMAO, maybe they just like big things. alot of suv's are bought with no intention of ever taking it off the beaten trail. thats not their main purpose anymore!

i have to say that i really dont mind suv's as long as they are used for what ther were designed to do, i.e. going off road/cross country. when i see a mother trying desperatly to maneuver her tub into a parking space i beep my horn all the time, when a cop see's something like this, he should send the person to an suv school or something,
(side note, create suv school) lol

lol, yeah, suvs and stuff like that aren't hard to dive, so they should be sent to drivers school if they can't park one

They actually tap into people's basic instinct to survive, i.e. intimidation and killing to save your hide. it's also a status symbol, too.

EXACTLY! its all about status. mercedes g500, one of the most off road capable vehicles around, and 90% of them will never see anything but pavement. its all about having more than the other guy.
