Kurt Cobain. I like how his voice cracks, like in "You Know You're Right". And he has feeling when he sings.

Kurt easily. Probably because he's the frontman of my favorite band. Layne second.

Cobain sucked at everything he did. He failed at life, and Nirvana is shit. There is no real reason why he deserved so much fame compared to AIC or other bands playing at that time.......

Kurt cobain. It was actually a tough choice between KC and vedder, but i really prefer a raspy voice. Good to see that people are starting to talk about real music on this forum. :bang:
*EDIT* they have the track listing for the nirvana box set coming out on the 23rd  Old age is on there... :bang: :bang: www.nirvanaclub.com
Also, if this was a poll for best grunge guitarist, AIC by far. Kurt was talented, but most of the guitar riffs were just simple barre chords. Still fun to play :)

Nothing happened at all, that's the point. He wasn't any different from many other bands, but people hold him up so high for nothing. He can't play a guitar or sing.........yet people think he's so great.

I'm not into grunge, and I've only heard Nirvana (They're not that good), but I thought I would mention who's singing voice I like..... Dexter Holland of The Offspring. It's sounds strained and SO GOOD... Especially in 'She's Got Issues' during the chorus... It's awesome...

Yes he can sing. He has one of the best rock yells of all time. And his guitar was decent, not incredibly complicated but you have to admit he wrote some great hooks.

This is the 99999th person who takes my name seriously, and genuinely thinks I'm a hick who plays a banjo, likes coutnry music, and lives in a shack and has no education. It's a fucking joke.

I listen to fucking metal, and there is nothing to "understand" about Nirvana. I'm sure "Smells like teen spirit" is very profound LOL.

Jet is a rip off of AC/DC , but I mean a lot of people liked Nirvana, so many different types of people not just young angry teenagers.

I can identify with people taking your name seriously, because I am a girl and my name happens to be "lameassdude". I don't take you're name to be a person who plays banjo and lives in the country, I'm thinking your some simple-minded, homophobic, sexist fuck.

It shouldn't imply that I'm a dude, girls call each other dude too, what the fuck am I gonna say "lameassdudette" no, that would be gay. I'd rather people think I'm a guy then stand out like that.

no actually about five minutes after I got it, I wanted to change it, so I PM a Mod. and never got anything back(not that I really expected anything, considering the size of the board), but yeah, if you'd ever find me on any other boards that what it is. It's not that big of a deal though it's not as if any of these people no me or ever will so...who gives a fuck?

Suprised noboday said Vedder, not saying he is the best, but he certainly is not a bad vocalist. Layne was also pretty good. Why do all the great musicians have to die??

Edit: exactly, kurt cobain wouldn't give a shit if some chode didn't like him or his music. if you don't like nirvana no one cares, there are a shitload of nirvana fans that do.
It's spelled chowd not chode. Sorry just had to point that out.

I lost all respect for Kurt and Nirvana after he killed himself. And Layne for overdosing. I'm going to include Scott Weillend in that group too. I just can't look up to people like that. Eddie Vedder is my vote. Amasing vocalist. Great band.

I dont think courtney was the one that killed him, but she definetly had something to do with it. And for the angry red neck or who ever it was, alice in chains is my third favourite band aside from nirvana and pearl jam, so yeah Im not a little teen that listens to teen spirit 6 hours a day. IMO smells like teen spirit was probably one of their worst songs, but it was really catchy. Any of you guys like mudhoney or flipper?

Come on now people, Kurt's dead. Does it really matter how he died...no because he was a junkie, he set up his own death even if he was murdered. So let's just listen to Nirvana and love it for what it was; simple.

Whoever blew his brains out was smart. Courtney, Dave, and Krist have made so much fucking money off him...and now this goddamn boxset coming out in a couple weeks and it is going to make millions.

WTF is Nirvana "ABOUT"
Nirvana was about vaginas.

Nirvana was about a guy with a bad upbringing being pissed off because he couldn't handle his own empathy. Nirvan Fans are lame ass little kids with nothing better to do then glorify a junkie and say that Cobain's lyrics where the deepest thing since the fucking hole in there brain.

By the way, Cobain killed himself. Get over it you fourteen year old little pricks.

It's like 30/70.

MusicIsDead

And your entilted to your own opinion. Im not going to argue with you about that. In my opinion nirvana and kurt were great. I personally dont give a shit what you think, thats your opinon. And yes courtney, dave and krist are making alot of money off of him, but dave and krist were in nirvana (in the words of mr grohl: "fuck you, i was in nirvana" ) so they deserve the money. Courtney does not deserve fame or anything of the sort, especially millions of dollars that shes blowing on drugs. In closing, die hard rap fans usually dont like country, metal heads usally dont like the blues, Classic rock fans usually dont like grunge, on and on and on. You like, what you like. Thats your opinion. Not all grunge fans are 14, not all rap fans are black, not all country fans are farmers. And so on.
*Edit* And yes, there is no doubt nirvana wouldnt be near as famous as they are now if kurt's life didnt end. If he did commit suicide, he did it for what he totally believed in. Think about this one though, that guy from blink 182 killed himself (I think, I dont really know much about modern rock, but i heard about it a while ago, correct me if I'm wrong) and blink still isnt shit. I havent seen a single person with a blink 182 shirt, thus they had no influence, and I really doubt that in 10 years its going to be all over the news and everything like it was with Cobain. So Nirvana was still a good band, and would still have an influence even if Kurt was still alive, just not as big of an impact.

joekickass
11-02-2004, 11:52 PM
^^^^ Actually he didn't commit suicide. To busy wiping his ass with $100 bills which he earned from making MTV's brand of generic punk-pop.

Well that just goes to show your musical knowlage is vitually nill. STP was known as Mighty Joe Young in 1987 and produced a Demo tape with songs like "Wicked Garden", "Where the River Goes" and "Naked Sunday", all of which appeared on thier first album Core. Now lets think about that, shall we? 1987 hmm? ummm thats before Pearl Jam, before Alice in Chains......My point is they were playing thier music long before they were signed and became famous. So if you're going to judge STP, judge them on thier music for what it is and nothing else. Besides, they were better than Pearl Jam anyway---and they always will be.

p.s. you spelled "pilots" wrong :)

They would have never EVER been as big as they are today.

Death is a great marketing tool

A lot of people or bands who have had members die wouldn't be as big as they are now if they were still alive because people don't appreciate something fully until it is gone.

My favourite singer is Kurt Cobain, but they all are good and if I had to be non bias because Nirvana are my fav group I'd say Layne, he had a brilliant voice.
