Why are we so limited with signatures and avatars?

I just made a couple of animated GIFs (nothing huge, the biggest one is 168k), and I was planning to use a couple of them as avatars on this forum. But, I forgot about the 19.5kb limit. 19kb!? Come on...I don't mind the pixel x pixel limit, but there should be a bigger size limit/no size limit on remote hosted avatars. If this is for 56kers, that's insane..frankly, nobody should still be on dial-up. I'm paying 23 bucks a month for 768k ADSL, it's not overpriced. Now normally, I could've just put it as my sig instead...but no, the [img] tag is off in signatures too. Why? If you turned it off to prevent insanely big signatures, it's not doing anything. Some people here have 2/3 quotes in their sigs with responses, and/or links. They're by no means small. So, I don't see what the point is in having [img] off in sigs...so here's my suggestion:

1. No size limit/bigger size limit on remote avatars.
2. Revise signature rules with a maximum image size, and then turn the [img] tags back on. This will finally let people use sig images, but it will prevent them from getting out of hand.

2. Having kiddies put massive fonts in their signatures is enough without them being able to put a shitty image there as well. The avatar feature is there for a graphical display of your manifestation, the signature is for the literal aspect of that.

Having to wade through the shit that gets posted here is enough without having to contend with giant images and silly avatars. This is a forum, not a cinema.

You miss the point, members are free to express themselves with avatars and signatures but the limits are there to keep this place tidy and that is that.

Refferal games are not permitted here and we're cracking down on large signature fonts. If you don't remove that shit from your signature you will be banned.

i think we should have at least the IMG code in our sigs to put signatures and no other picture. Just an opinion.
