i need help with ONE sentence

ok this is for my research paper and this one sentence is bugging me. i already used the phrase "open up" (emotionally) prior to this sentence and it cant be redundant, so heres the sentence

This sympathy triggers Silas to open up to the community.

can anybody think of a word or phrase that could replace "open up"
