View Full Version : Who's a runner?

Just out of curiosity. I am kind of a runner, I got WAY out of shape after giving birth, but I am trying to get back into it. Maybe if I talk to some other runners, I'll get better at it again.
I am 23 years old, started running at 20. I ran a 2-mile at 18:12 once, that is my best time, so although I'm not really good at running, I enjoy it. My longest run was 5 miles, a very SLOW 5 miles, but still. I wear New Balance trail running shoes, they're the best. I have run on three continents - Southwest Asia, Europe, and North America. My best running was in Germany, but hopefully after I get back into it, running here in Texas will be my winning streak!
So post your pointers, favorite shoes, favorite routes, whatever...this is the running thread.

I don't really care, but I love to run. Something about it is just empowering. My fastest flat out mile is 6:25 I think, I could probalby run a 2 mile in around 14 minutes at worst.
That's all I have to say about that.

I just ran to the fridge and got a cold beer in .75 minutes. Does that count?
Sorry I could not resist.

I ran track last year. Went to State in two events (4 x 4 and 4 x 8). My best mile is a 4:45 but I'm not very good at the mile. My best race is the 800 which I can run in under 2:00 and I can run a 400 in about 51 seconds. I'm only a junior though so I hope to get better.

Cross country is way the hell to long for me. Props to all of you that do it even if you are not very good. My schools xc team does runs over 60 minutes. I'm good at max for a mile no matter what the pace but after that I am spent.

i got 3rd in the all-city meet in my event (sadly, i can't even remember what it was that i ran). but that was way back in middle school. :shuffle:
when i was in better shape, i could do a mile in under 5:30. but i'd be lucky to make it under 7 minutes now.

I used to run anywhere from 5-8 (I think the most ever was 9, possibly 10? Not sure, it was a while ago) miles a day, then I broke my ankle (not because of running) and got all out of shape. I really want to get back into it, though, but I get so discouraged now cause my stamina and endurance are...umm, basically non-existent. :shuffle: Does anyone have any getting-back-into-running pointers or tips?
