If you have not seen both of the bands play, i would highly reccomend it. Both bands play a lot of funk and jam. Go download some songs

I have never heard of either of them, nor do i want to. you realize that probably 98% of this board hasn't...they sound like they resemble s******* or good charlotte. why don't you get back to giving your boyfriend a backrub with your chin and not post retarded bands like these that no one's heard of and doesn't care to listen to...

If they were on the same level, wouldn't I have heard of them?

Nope, never heard of them, just some other shitty bands that people like to talk about because they are "underground" which makes them "cool" because no one has heard of them.

these bands are sorta underground. Sure they don't have videos or much media attention. Unless your a hippie and like the grateful dead, you probably not heard of them. Just download a couple of their songs and be amazed.

Yeah, I'm in Boulder too...they are huge, they play a show here like, once every month or two. I've never seen them or heard any of their music, though.

Quit trying to randomly own people. You obvious do not possess the intelligence to do so. You are as ignorant as they come. Do you even wonder if you'll sound stupid before you post. Good god, just give up. You are an idiot.

Back on subject. MMW are one of the few Jazz bands that excite me. They have a great sense of textured rythms. Wood is a fantastic bassist.

SCI is definitley one of my favorite bands. I am a traditional Bluegrass fan, but their mix of traditional and progressive satisfies my perfectly. Each as fantastic musicians aswell. Also, Born on the Wrong Planet is a fabulous album.

Good to see another Jam Band fan :D

I wouldn't go out to say MM&W are on the same level as the dead..man, please reconsider! hehe. I do like MM&W though. I like them alot. They have some sweet sounds. I like the experimentation with the sound effects and MC thing. I find them more "background" music as in comparison of a 'Trane or Robert Walter album. Still like them though.
For you "metal" fools, wake up man, check out other music before dissin' somebody's opinions....btw, Ted Nugent? Give me a break!

Hell yeah. MM&W kick ass. String Cheese are also very good, not so much my style though. If you like MMW, I'd highly recomend getting some Stanton Moore, a little more simple, but still very groovy.

 = ignorance

If they're on the same level of the Grateful Dead, why are they underground?

Underground means not many people have heard of them, that has nothing to do with talent. Dream Theater has much talent, but most people havn't heard of them.

that's still so funny that someone actually compared MM&W to The Grateful dead. hahaha..what? Just because stoners follow both band doesn't mean they are comparable...hahaha. I do like both bands quite a bit too!

Yeah, Bela Fleck is VERY talented. Being a bass player, The Flecktones are top dollar to me.
