What annoys you in songs?

I for one dont like keyboards in rock songs, I just dont think rock is a place for keyboards to be, thats just me...

I also dont like "bullshitting" guitar solos. You know, ones that like Alter Bridge and shit do, some easy shit and try to pass it off for a good quality guitar solo, just dont even try if you cant come up with something good.

It annoys me when the vocalist makes noises (like humming or something)during the solo...just annoys me like hes trying to taking the guitarists time away...also when the drummer sucks that annoys me a lot...

Bad screams, I hate it when people cannot scream and they try. Its sad really. 'Scream' songs normally get you pumped, but when the person can't scream, i get depressed.

Well, I hate repetitious high-pitched noises, that are mainly in rap songs.

Screaming for the most part sounds bad to me...I prefer melodic music, and screaming usually takes the melody out of music, or at least it seems like it to me.

And my second point about the screaming wasn't referring to rap songs. I mean most songs with screaming.

arsis does it occasionally but i dont mind, since they change the sound of the instruments every time they do it

Any of the new rock music you hear today, with a few exeptions. None of these guys can sing. Sum 41, Good Charlotte, and most of the Death Metal bands such as Craddle of Filth and Slipknot. Anybody ever heard Third Eye Blind live? Ackkkk. Horrible, it sounded like the guy was getting nutted when every time he tryed to hit any high notes at all. But with the technology today, who needs to be able to sing when you can edit the hell out of everything to make it sound perfect?

Man a few things annoy me
1 violins in rock bands....wtf
2. meaningles lyrics... I sometimes let it slide but when someone is singing about somethng and it starts to mkae no sense it mkaes me kinda angry. you get that with new bands (and some old) like GC and Slipkn*t when they string words together that seem to be making sence but really they convey no real ideas and just appeal to the fuking teens that would support them no matter what they said.......
3. Overdose...why do all the goods one go out like that....
4. yelling... when a band screams about something I dont mind if it is a controlled cream and you can understand what he is saying but when the scream is just a AHHHHHHHBLSKHDGKALSHJKHAAHHHH kinda scream that is really loud and annoying it anoys me alot.
5.No energy (concerts)... bands that just sit on stage and play and aren't even looking like they enjoy what the do annoy me. I love the bands that are joking with the crowd and jumping around and really getting into their music. I can usually feed off of their energy and get into their songs on a different level than on their cds or whatever.

I know what you mean, and have to admit I really like those. :shuffle: Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Linkin Park, Chevelle, Disturbed, et al. Good stuff if you ask me. :bang: It was Dave Chapelle who said that electric guitar speaks directly to a white guy's soul. And it's true. :D

I don't like screaming thru the whole damn song. You're only supposed to scream, if at all, at "climax" points in the song.

I don't like lyrics that give an ugly mental picture. Take Slipknot's Duality for example. The lyrics ruin some killer guitar playing.

I don't like drum machines or, for the most part, synthesizers.

It bothers me when songs are either too long or too short. Of course, some of them can be good if they make efficient use of their length, but if they sound bland or repetitive it's just annoying. Even my favorite bands are guilty of it occasionally.

I know this is a bit of a late reply to your statement, but I totally agree with you. One of the best examples of keyboards ruining great rock music is Van Halen post 1984 and the shitty keyboard solo in Cky's Flesh into Gear. Man that ruined a great song.

What annoys me in songs....hmmmmm....I'd say any musicians that claims they are musicians who dont write there music, such as Avirl, good charlete, Ashlee Simpson, Simple Plan, Britney Spears, Christina Aguleria, Justin timberlake, Metallica (the new metallica, not the old Metallica...they rock) Shit, the list can go on and on, its bascially the whole enchilada.

Here is very one true fact as to why they dont write thier music, cause they always go to the record companie and tell them they either want a more edgy sound to ther music, or a softer side, funk, rock, in there next album. So they dont write there music, maybe only the lyrics...but thats about it. IF your truly a musician, your suppose to write it all with the help of your band members.

I agree with the fact that sometimes keyboards ruins awesome songs, but it also can make songs sound greater. The matter is mostly on how the groups compose their songs.
