Could a mod please sticky this so we don't see a million "John Doe signs with Yankees" threads?

Post all offseason trades/signings here:

Star 3rd baseman Adrian Beltre has signed a 5 year contract with Seattle
Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Prized free agent Adrian Beltre and the Seattle Mariners agreed to a $64 million, five-year deal Thursday.

Beltre's contract is subject to him passing a physical, a person close to the third baseman said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The deal could be announced as early as Friday. Seattle did not comment on the agreement.

Apparently there has been a hitch in the Johnson to NYY deal:
Other issues that threatened to derail the trade include the waiving of Green's no-trade clause.

A source close to Green, who is due $16 million in 2005, told ESPN.com that the Dodgers outfielder is happy living in Southern California, where he grew up, and has expressed no desire to leave Los Angeles. How much money the Diamondbacks would receive from the Yankees is also a point of contention. Sources told Stark that moving Duncan and Navarro would preclude the Yankees from sending money to Arizona.

Wonder if it will still happen now?

I think there will be a large transaction from a George S. to Shawn Green's bank account.

What else is new? That man spends more money in a day, than I have ever spent in my life.

P.S. - 10$ that Randy is on NYY by the New Years.

Juan Cruz, Charles Thomas and Dan Meyer better be the Braves top three minor league prospects. The Braves go out and get quality pitchers, while the Mets go after over the hill pitchers. :banghead:

pedro is not over the hill quite yet, charles thomas and juan cruz are pretty damn good, but if it wasnt billy beane, the a's would be getting better players according to popular opinion.

my view on the pedro deal (met fan) - 4 years is a bit much, but if it wasnt for that 4th year we would not be getting him. He is still a dominant pitcher, he was second in k's last year. He will be able to work his magic in shea now, one of the biggest and most pitcher friendly parks in the league, on nl lineups, this means good news and i wouldnt be surprised with an era under 2.50. pedro knows how to pitch and the evidence is the fact that he has lost about 5 to 6 mph on his fastball yet he still gets people out. If by the 3rd or 4th year he loses something, he will still be a number 3 to 5 guy or possibly a bullpen guy and i am willing to eat up those last two years, or one, or possibly none, if it means 2 years of greatness and he will be great for the next two years, i guarantee it.

It looks like the A's are going to sacrifice 2005 for 2006 on. Barton is a stud prospect as a catcher, Calero is another good bullpen arm, and Haren is a young starter who also has some real good stuff. Bad for the 2005 A's (assuming this goes through), but solves another budgetary problem.

Surreal week for A's fans (I'm one of them) :(

I hope Beane knows what hes doing. He traded away two great pitchers, and got a lot of nice prospects in return, but i disagree with his move to trade two of his pitchers. The rotation now will probably be Zito, Harden, Haren, Cruz and Joe Blanton. Still a really good rotation, but its a downgrade of course from the once Big Three.

The Giants haven't done half bad so far, although Moises Alou is a good sign, it does nothing for the defense in the outfield. Giants are going up...Dodgers...Going down
