Toronto and New Jersey are in serious talks in a trade involving Vince Carter. The trade could be completed today.

Nets Get:
Vince Carter

Raptors Get:
Alonzo Mourning
Aaron Williams
Eric Williams
2 first round picks

In my opinion, the Nets are giving up way too much for someone who isn't a superstar anymore. Alonzo has been playing great this year, and those two first round picks could possibly come in the lottery. Vince isn't worth all of that today. This probably paves the way for Kidd to be traded though...

If vince and kidd could stay healthy NJ would have a pretty exiciting team to watch and possibly a playoff team.

Well the trade has just been completed in the past moments. Same players I just mentioned I believe.

I think its a good trade. I don't think Carter is a superstar, but he will create excitement and sell tickets for the Nets who have lost the excitement since losing Martin and Kidd's injury last year. This trade is not really about improving the team, but I think more about create a buzz or excitement and helping sell tickets. Mourning was demanding a trade as well, so the Nets were in a predicament and this was probably their only good chance. I think the trade will help Toronto alot as well, a big man was what they needed. The Raptors were struggeling as of late and this will probably help them out more than it will help out the Nets. They have a better chance of winning the incredibly weak division they are in. Good trade for both teams, but for different reasons. I'm not quite happy about it, it creates more competition for the Knicks.

Well in my opinion the trade was not good, NJ lost alot of their big men, for a guard? Plus whenever Carter is upset with something involving the team, or the staff itself he will just deliberately put himself on the injured list. In all reality Carter needs to mature as a player. I have a feeling they might regret this in the future.

being from toronto myself, i am dissapointed that he got traded. one big reason is that he was a really exciting player to watch and almost every week i got to see the raps on the highlights and sometimes #1 plays of the week (once even play of the year). rob babcock (raptors gm) says isnt even expecting Mourning to play because of health reasons. we did need some big guys on our team and surround our upcoming star, chris bosh with some room to grow.
i was even supposed to go to the nets @ raptors game this sunday but i'm gonna sell my tickets now b/c most likely the 3 players the raps got arn't gonna be playing as soon as sunday since they need to pass medicals and all that...i guess ill just go to the utah game

STUPIDEST fucking trade EVER!

In modern basketball first round picks can make or break a team, look at Lebron man...

Secondly, Vince is older, in my opinion not what he used to be, plus always hurt.

I know Zo isnt the healthiest but he still is an assest to the Nets who will be letting their big guy go.

Then 2 first round picks??? For a struggling team like Jersey that is going to need re-building next season!

Fucking insane, Jay-Z dont know shit about business.

How could the Nets be so stupid?
Vince for everybody on their team.

Thank God I'm a Pistons fan.

Most people in Toronto are saying good riddance quite frankly. VC has never been willing to go hard to the net, preferring clear open lanes so his fragile body is not touched. For a guy who avoids contact as much as he does he sure gets injured frequently. To sum it up, Vince Carter has the killer instict of Jimmy Carter.

Damn, losing their franchise player. It's kinda hard to mention the Raptors without thinking about Carter. Just like the Sixers without AI.

With Carter going to New Jersey, he helps to form a dangerous trio of Kidd, himself, and Jefferson. The Nets GM might have felt a sense of urgency to trade for a big name player, maybe because this is probably their last season with Kidd at the helm. Losing two first round picks though is a killer. Even if Kidd leaves, Carter and Jefferson form a nice duo there.

coming from a torontonian perspective raps got ripped off i mean mourning cmon In my opinion vince is an allstar we should have got kidd n mourning not those other losers. i heard placio for jefferson now that would have been a good trade. Toronto's gm sucks :thud:

Haha, for a second big dog I thought you were just talkin shit and cracking me up......then I was like "Oh fuck, were talking about Jay-Z here, he probaly DID say those exact words to the press  "

After trading 2 first round picks for one guy who wont play more then 50 games a year the rest of his career, all I gotta say is :

J's got 99 problems but oviously forming a dynasty is gonna be one....

Its good that raptors finally lost Vince, hes been slacking off all year...that dyke.

Knowing him he will play really well in NJ, trying to win fame and fans love back. I can see him getting 30+ points his first game.

Wow....NJ was so hell bent on getting a dynamic player they completely destroyed their team. Alonzo, Aaron Williams and just one first round pick would have been enough to get Toronto to trade him. They gave up way to much to a guy that will probably never be an all star again. He is always injured, and he doesn't make shots. Bad move. Although, Vince will put people in the seats, but not for long, since the Nets will still continue to lose, people will stop going again.

They dont need a team...all they need is vince to be a star again...and i reckon he will shine because he's always up for the attention...He didn't play hard in Toronto the past couple years because he didn't want to.

J Kidd and VC is a pretty deadly combination but not with the way Vince has been playing.
