DO NOT do anything on your computer and run out and by Norton Ghost or a similar product. If you have copied, moved, or saved any large files since you deleted the stuff then it is probably hopeless. With ghost i was able to save some of my stuff but not all of it, good luck.

There are recovery programs out there, but I haven't used any of them and they are not easy to find or use for free. If it makes you feel any better, I lost about 12gb of videos and others files about 2 weeks ago. I didn't try retrieving them, because it was caused by hard drive dumping data, so its pretty much gone. In your case, you still have a chance, but I really can't give you good advice. Sign up to the forum at www.anandtech.com and post your problem in the Technical Support section, they will give you expert advice on how to retrieve your data and they will go back and forth with you if you have problems in the process. They've helped me out a few times now. Good luck man. It sucks to lose alot of data.

I doubt you're stupid, but in case you are, try checking your computer's "bin" if it hasn't been emptied. But I suppose you've already done that.... Someone suggested Ghost, I think that's a good idea. Otherwise there's pretty much no hope if you haven't got any backups or restore points. I guess you just have to forget about the stuff you lost or try getting it back from the differents sources you got it from in the first place. Good luck.
