I think they're a good band. I just got their greatest hits album for free in a 2 for 1 deal, but I hadn't heard much about them. Now that I've listened to them, I like it. The musicians are great, I like them more than Petty himself.

For anyone who hasn't heard them, download Refugee(personal favourite), Running Down a Dream, and Free Falling and tell me what you think.

Any other fans here?

I also have read that they was influenced alot by The Beatles, and the musicians remind me of Rush.

Not to detract from your thread...I'd like to make a tribute to Howie Epstein (http://www.gonegator.com/pictures_epstein.asp) A Milwaukee boy that done good.
He was The Heartbreakers bassist forever...He died in 2003. smack

Damn the Torpedoes is a great album, and Tom Petty is my girlfriends second cousin. Great songwriter.

If you like the Heartbreakers, you should check out The Traveling Wilburys. It's Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne. I reccommend the album Volume 2, which was actually their first album.

EDIT: I take that back. Their first album is Volume 1, and it's the best one. Then their second album was Volume 3.
