Ok so any of you who live in the Washington D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia area may not know yet, but the legendary 99.1 HFS radio station has been replaced by a fucking Spanish radio station "99.1 El ZOL". Holy shit I am pissed off. HFS has been one of the most renown and respected rock stations in America for the past.... at least 15 years. It also brought us the hilarious and ever-popular "Sports Junkies" every morning which started my day, everyday while doing my 15 minute drive to school at 7am every morning. This is truly a sad day in the D.C.-metro area...

Damn mexicans and their crappy music :shout: :shout: :shout:

I can relate. We had a fucking awesome rock station here, dubbed The Rock. It was so damn good. Then out out of nowhere, I turned on the radio, expecting the likes of Tool or Slipknot, and I got fucking Spanish music. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

That station was mediocre. If you want good music, listen to 94.7 classic rock.

Fucking mexicans. First they take our country's jobs, now they take our radio stations.

i was driving home from a party at around 2 in the morning last night, and i turned on HFS and got... hispanic music. i was so shocked; growing up, i always listened to junkies in the morning on the way to school... loveline at night... and oh god, the HFStivals...

its such a tragedy, like it or hate it 99.1 largely defined generations of people in the baltimore / DC area. it'll be hard to let it go.

This happened to me as well. I used to listen to 92.7 Long Island Rock Station. All of a sudden it started to change into a spanish station. Then it would comeback in a couple of hours. It kept doing that for awhile until it finally became a whole spanish station. There ruining are stations. :banghead:

There is possibly someting we can do about it. Though these usually don't work, it's worth a try 99.1 HFS Petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/WHFS/petition.html)

Yes, I also made a post involving this. I cant believe this happened. Thats like the best radio station in existence. It ownd dc101. I didnt know so many people from the DC area were on these forums. I cant believe it got taken my the spanish people of all people. I listened to the junkies also every morning. That is possibly the only silver lining in this story since infinity broadcasting also owns 94.7 they are probably gonna move them there.

I cannot believe this happened. :banghead:

Wow, I dont know what would happen if they took away the Loop here near Chicago, that is I believe the #1 listened to rock station in America, so it probably wont be taken off, but one day, a new classic rock station I listen to, 97.3 the Brew started playing Mexican rap, but I found out they had a pledge where any song you request, they'll play, because after that they played Michael Bolton.

Damn that sucks. I don't know what I would do if I lost my great station here (http://www.89xradio.com/). I'm so glad I live close to Canada, so I not only get CBC and their superb Olympics coverage (and even the Commonwealth games) and Royal Canadian Air Farce (think SNL/MadTV on a budget but just as funny), but this radio station which is independent, asks listeners what they like and don't like, obviously outside the realm of the FCC, and has a minimal amount of commercials. Every morning, they have a block from 9 AM to about 10:30 AM, 90 minutes, with not a single commercial. Just music and the DJ. :D

I live in the good ol' Maryland, and when I heard the Spanish , I wanted to cry....**sniffle**. I pretty much grew up on HFS. I remember being an Old School HFS fan. When Crazytown's "Butterfly" came out, They always followed that song with The Guido in a Speedo version. It was like Come my Guido, Come Come my Guido, guido in a speedo Smokin lots of weedo......I want to download that...**ponders**

Anyways, I'm saying that HFS was the ONLY station that I listened to (except when emo came on, followed by a couple decent songs). I have been a loyal fan and I can't believe what happened. HFStival will be sincerely missed.

Blech, Time to go Cry. =/ :( \=
