No, no, you guys. This (http://www.rickenbacker.com/us/370-12.htm) is a truly beautiful guitar. Roger McGuinn used it. But, it's seriously expensive.
Edit: Yeah, the JEM is kind of stupid. It is fluorescent, and has Vai's favorite fabric under the fretboard or something. But I'd like a Floyd Rose myself (the vibrato system, not the guitar).

That is nice, I like the semi-hollow body, but not too much of a fan of the neck. Could be just me.

What, I think the way the guitar was made was awesome, I really love the way the Fret board looks with those leaves, amazingly beautiful.
Hey Do you guys think Steve Vai is pretty gayish, I mean just look at him (http://www.rockonnet.com/imagelib/articles/cd-teka/steve_vai_anthology.jpg) makes you think if him and prince are dating.

It sucks when you go buy this album which is really good album and I have it. You have to flip it the other way cause you dont want the cashiers thinking your gay. You have to say some shit like "I like the way He plays the guitar" but they still look at you in a funny way in an akward silence.

Thats why whenever I buy something like that I always shoot the cashier afterwards...
..with a camera, and then we all laugh and have a great time and become friends and its not awkward anymore.
Now back on topic, something about orgasming when seeing a beautiful guitar like the PRS Santana SE.

DAM Santana has a nice looking guitar, but what about Uli Jon Roth "Sky Guitar." (http://yngwie.org/gallery/images/skye.gif) Its a 7 String Guitar with about 30 frets.

I hate that guitar. I like the idea of its variety of frets, but its so ugly in my opinion. The seventh string also spices it up a little. Lets start a rating system. I'd give that one a 5.2.
My beloved santana gets a 10.0 (the max)

You just cant deny the Beauty of Steve Vai's guitar (http://img126.exs.cx/img126/4961/jem7vwh3kt.jpg) One look at that baby and its an instant splooge. Santana has a cool artistic look to his guitar, but neck doesnt look to happy for me.
Steve Vai has recieved a score beyond a score, cause it has splooged the judges and they say that a score of 10 isnt enough to explain a life changing experience. But seriously, its a Perfect 10.

Dude, it's pretty lame to rate your own choice, because it's a completely biased opinion. I'd give Avo's guitar a 7.3 (why the fuck is there a handle?) and Beastman's a 9.5. PRS makes beautiful guitars.
Edit: Wait a second... There's like twelve posts, and they're made by only three people. What's with that?
(why the fuck is there a handle?)
To stick your Dick in there after every show....how cum you didnt know that.

Telecasters are, in my opinion, very ugly guitars. I just don't like the bridge at all, and the cut-aways, I just hate. But they give a nice cruching tone.

of course all his solos sound the same if he didnt bullshit around on his songs so much. On each album there is always gonna be some bullshit song that Steve Vai will follow some type of chord Progression so he could fill it up with Fast solos. When Steve Vai gets serious, he can sure make an awesome song... songs like:
For the Love of God
Tender Surrender
The Attitude Song
Wispering a Prayer
Blue Powder
Liberty
I say Steve Vai is the best Instrumentalist of our Time, he is truly a Genious.

You know, of what I've heard of his music, his one-time teacher was/is a lot better (if you don't know, PM me).
I believe David Gilmour is one of the greatest guitarist of the 20th century. Listen to "Comfortably Numb", "Another Brick in the Wall", or "Shin on you Crazy Diamond", and you'll see that even though he doesn't play fast, he knows when and when not to play, wht notes to use, and has a great sound. He is way better than Satriani, Vai, Van Halen, Malmsteen, etc...
Playing fast is just stupid. It sounds bad too.

I agree with you, playing too fast gets really annoying and makes you wanna pull the trigger. Coming from a guitar player, I have some technical skill, I practice alot on accuracy and precisness. I would rather play with feeling any day over shredding solos, cause they begin to get dull. Where playing with feeling has many options in soloing. but then again, your gonna need the technical skill to keep your solos clean, to keep it from sounding dirty. So I'm gonna say it again, I like playing with feeling, its probaby the greatest things you can do on the Guitar and one of the greatest gifts you could possible obtain, so I would choose Feeling over shredded notes anyday.

gilmore's solo on time is my favorite rock solo
well the solo in achille's last stand is pretty good too
the other thing that pisses me off is when people like vai or satriani only play in the top three frets of their guitar all the time.

It all comes down to dedication. I will guaruntee you that Steve Vai and Satch spend more time learning about music and practicing guitar tha Gilmour or Clapton etc. That has no bearing on whether you will like them or not, its just forces you to realize that some guitarists want to learn how to do everything they can to be able to play every aspect of guitar (shredding, sweeping, tapping etc), and other guitarists are repetious and fall in the the same habits and do not improve past a certain skill level. Like I mentioned though, it has nothing to do with how we view their music emotionally. Some people just like different things. If you hate fast playing on guitar, maybe you just haven't been exposed to the right ones, its not just vai and malmsteen anymore

Yes, very true...some bands do fall into repetitive soloing, aka Kirk Hammet
Yah you need to look in the right places, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Satriani are 3 very over-rated guitar players...but Steve Vai wins my best awards shredder list.
Has anyone ever heard of Uli Jon Roth, he adds whole new meaning to shredding your guitar. If you havent heard of this guy, look him up, you wont be dissapointed, or you could just go to his web-site at www.ulijonroth.com
Edit: Dam, the site seems to be down, check back later.

Well, they might spend more time doing it, but some people just love music and aren't born as natural musicians. Gilmour and Clapton are great guitarists out of instinct, shredders are just kind of lame. If you play fast, big deal. Playing fast almost makes it impossible to put feeling into it, because either you are playing to fast to be able to pick good notes out fast enough, or it just sounds like a flurry of notes.
Now take someone like David Gilmour. He makes every note count. Even if the chord changes are very difficult, he always makes the right decision about what to play, how to make it sound, how how long to hold it.
All in all, playing fast becomes obsession among guitarists. You shouldn't have to play faster than maybe 32nd notes in a slower tempo, and sixteenth in faster.

I think the Les Paul is a classic beauty.

Im curious banjo, which guitarists that you call a "shredders" have you listened to. Do you think it is impossible for a guitarist that can play very fast to have a very emotion touch when he is playing (fast or slow). I dont think it is right to make judgements unless you have really given a chance to all the guitarists you put down.
By the way, 32nd notes a rarely used in shredding, they are almost always considered 16th notes (or 16th note triplets) at a higher bpm
