I teach music lessons, and guitar tabs are useful for illustrating the way a certain person plays a song. The written page cannot show all the things a guitarist needs to know about how to play a song, such as neck position, fingerings and so on.

In reality, the players who only rely on tab or only rely on music are very similar in the way they play. They can only memorize the songs they read, and play them right off the page exactly as written. That's why I teach to play 4 ways: music, tab, ear, and theory. The ear and theory is what allows a player to jam and improvise over a set of changes. Learning in this way will make you a well rounded player in any situation.

No it's not irrelevant, because the notes sound totally different depending on where you play them. Also the series of notes changes depending on use of open notes as passing tones or "floaters" within a series of higher placed notes.

Good tabs do relate the time. You just use a set 8 or 16 note spacing, or as I often do, flag the numbers.

It can become extremely difficult to read a guitar solo from music, nearly impossible. Not to mention the tricks and techniques used to get a certain sound that just cannot be written down at all.

That might be because your internet is on the frits. When you compose songs on punkomatic that interrupt the whole melodies to create different ones, sometimes it doesn't sync up right. Try putting the flash quality on low and getting rid of all the extra sounds. The song needs to be in sync for it to sound right. :)

And if you still hate it, I still think it's awesome.

You are a noob at this game. The riffs haven't gotten old to you yet. When they do, you will have to mix them together to make "combos". That is what I did. That is what the other people did. If you think my songs are jumbled up, you would think all of those were jumbled up, so I'm guessing that since I told you the truth (that your songs suck), you just said that mine were bad. If not, well then...whatever.
