My friend and I were having a conversation about some of the better players in the NFL this year. We started talking about the different people on the cover of Madden over the years and the thought came up about how they decide who goes on it each year. So what decides it? Also, who will be on the cover in 2006?

i think Tom Brady will be on the cover this year, espically if they win another super bowl.
As for who decides it, im not sure. I guess Madden would?

I heard that there won't be a Madden 2006 now that EA Sports bought some NFL liscnese agreement which mean no competition. They will totaly re-vamp the game for 2007, i heard.

i think that terrel owens will be on the cover. a lot of players believe in the Madden curse, and thats why tom brady wont do it, because he know that he will win the super bowl next year. Terrel Owens will because hes a cocky piece of crap, and he wants the publicity

Madden is the only series to guarantee a game through 2010, so there will be a Madden 2006. And I already know who will be on the cover (http://www.fanmonster.com/browns/season/2003/20031214_broncos/ap7064067.jpg).

It all depends on what they decide to focus on. In Madden 2004, they focused on Playmaker, so they got the biggest playmaker, Mike Vick, to be on the cover. Last year, it was all about Defense and the Hit Stick, so they got the most punishing hitter in the league, Ray Lewis, to be on the cover.

Brian westbrook should be on it or Mcnabb. TO can't be on a EA sports game cover, it was part of the deal when he was on espn, that he could not be on their rivals cover, ever.

once there's no game for him to be on, who cares? fuck espn they got owned by madden. yes if you haven't heard, madden is the only football game for a long while (somebody said 2010) to have real players, teams, stadiums etc. etc. that's why there will only be one true game, however i still think espn will make fake stuff.

Madden bought ESPN, so they can't come out with a game...
I should say EA Sports, since supposedly Madden's not coming back.
We should all expect one really sweet football game.

Damn, I can't wait until the new Madden comes out. I'm a Madden fanatic (I've already played 11 seasons in Madden 2004 on the hardest setting with all of the AI turned up). I think Manning is going to be the next cover, just because of the season he had. I hope they fix the punt return coverage and definitely keep the "hit stick"...damn that is awesome.
haha pretty funny... but lets say they wanted to put a kicker on the cover, it would be adam vinaterai.

Or David Akers. He's a fucking robot. :bang:
And I also think that Manning will probably be on the cover for his record.

Actually, in that case, they would but Vinatieri on it...

Why no running backs? Have Priest Holmes or LaDanian Tomlinson automatically been ignored because they had off years? Even Jerome Bettis or Curtis Martin could get some consideration. I think the most likely candidate if the Pats beat the Eagles could be Corey Dillon since now everyone knows what he can do on a good team.

also guys, ea sports has partnered up with espn for a like 15 year deal after their 2006 games (so they will be affiliated w/ espn when madden 2007 is released) but, i kinda saw it coming. on espn nfl countdown they always had madden footage breaking down plays rather than espn nfl 2k5 and espn also showed ncaa football footage on espn also.

I think they should put someone from the Arena League on the cover, therefore eliminating all "curse" injuries and taking the blame off of EA when Ben Roethlisberger breaks his leg and the Steelers struggle to a 3-13 record, or when Tom Brady/Peyton Manning/etc.

You know, Drew Brees wouldn't come to most people's minds as potential cover people, but I can actually see that happening. Most players have already had at least a few good seasons before getting on the cover but Drew Brees could be an exception because he proved what he can really do with a good team

Okay to bring some actual discussion back to this let me throw out a legit name:
LaDanian Tomlinson
He's on no other video games. And, he's one of the biggest superstars in the league. Also, when was the last time you saw a Charger on the cover of anything?

To be on the madden cover, Madden holds a Tournament for where only NFL superstars are allowed to play, So they probly take the highest paid in the NFL bring them in a Madden 2005 NFL tournament and the winner will get to be on the cover of the next madden. 100 and 100s of people show up just to watch it.

I don't think TO can be on the cover of this years madden. He was on the espn game this year and I think that it would violate something in his contract if he were to be on the cover regardless of the merger. Nevertheless, TO had a great year that warrants being on the cover of madden.

i kno everyone wants to kno whos gonna b on the cover of 06. but i wanna kno is "is it possible to make madden ne better?" 05 surprised me greatly wen i thought it couldn't get much betta from 04 but it did by a whole lot. i think a really phat thing would b to have a hall of fame on 06. u kno, play your franchise n b able to get your ppl in the hall of fame or at least on your teams ring of honor. i've completed over 20 years in my franchise in 05 and i basically have nuttin to show 4 it. ne 1 can win a super bowl in the games but it be bangin to get your players in the hall of fame. and just to add to everyone elses topic, i think the entire patriots roster should b cramed onto the madden cover next year so they all get hurt and neva win another game again. just remember who is still in the lead.

I know that everyone wants to know who's going to be on the cover of Madden 2006. But the thing that I want to knowis "is it possible to make madden any better?" '05 surprised me greatly when I thought it couldn't get much better from '04 but it did by a whole lot. I think a really cool thing would be to have a Hall of Fame in '06. You know, play your franchise and be able to get your people into the Hall of Fame or at least get onto your teams Ring of Honor. I've completed over 20 years in my franchise in '05 and I basically have nothing to show for it. Anyone can win a Super Bowl in the game, but it would be cool to get your players into the Hall of Fame. and just to add to everyone elses topic, I think the entire Patriots roster should be crammed onto the Madden cover next year so they all get hurt and never win another game again. Just remember who is still in the lead.

That being said, it would be pretty cool to be able to get your players into the Hall of Fame. I would also like it to just come with a feature that makes everyone on your team a 99 in everything, who doesn't waste in hour making one of those themselves?

Ok, I admit and you've seen Favre play bad in the playoffs lately...but its not all his fault. He has to drag the team there every year, and frankly hes getting too old to carry the team now. He needs help, and the defense is losing games and making him look bad. If the defense didnt allow so many points, they wouldn't have to throw as much. Besides the playoffs Favre is still top notch. 4088 yards passing, and 30 TD. 92.4 passer rating and one of the highest completion percentages hes ever had. This upcoming season he will embark on the 50,000 yard mark and 400 TD milestone. So don't even talk about Favre being old and bad. He's better then your stupid teams QB's that wont even amount to close of what he is.

Be nice if they added sweet jumping catches over the middle, somewhat like in 2001 but better... They need to fix the red zone corner fades, and the deep ball. Punt and Kick Returns suck.
Im not sure whats going on, but it would be sweeter to have ESPN sunday night football with monday night football so you get a change. Madden is annoying they need to do something to the commentary and the crowd noise

what about Julius Peppers, Madden needs to work on its D-line play to make them more of a force in the games...

Well, I would like for Favre to be on the cover... but it would be cool if not that to have Reggie White and Pat Tillman on the cover together... ya know. They should really put Favre on though... This is probably his last year, and they should honor him. I don't care what you guys think of him, you know when your team is playing the Packers, the Packers always have a chance because of #4. Bow down to Favre....

He earned it. :icon_rofl

Naw, i think Nate Kaeding (http://www.chargers.com/team/roster_details.cfm?last_name=Kaeding&first_name=Nate) of the Chargers earned the cover rights this year!

You don't have to be a little prick to read a few posts before posting and looking like a fool. It took me about ten minutes to read all the way through this one.

If you have been paying attention the last few years (obviously you haven't) all players on the cover of the NCAA Football have entered the NFL Draft. You cannot be on the cover and make some money if you are still in college.

i second that motion, if not this year, next year when a Defensive End(Pep) score 5 TDs.

Tomilison, Urlacher, any white boy, T.O. and probly forgeting some1 else who is commonly refered to cant be on cover three of which i just named have alrdy been on competitions covers, or whould foreshadow a hit in sales(white boy on cover just like no1 wear a white guys jesery who plays offense. (tomilison was on Gamedays cover lol what a waste for Charger fans)

i agree on the h.o.f. thing and different hit stick animations would be sweet, the fg block and punt block could be re-worked i mean if you've ever watched a game a fg block unit isnt that spread out on the field and i would like to see more tips for interceptions and some new games on the training camp mode and more individual drills and if a player gets seriously hurt seeing a stretcher out on the field would be badass (and for the whole ray lewis and the madden curse didn't he finish second in the defensive mvp and that is the curse ?)

What r u talking about , no body wears 'white boy' jerseys?!? Uhh have you heard of Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Jeremy Shockey, even David Carr? I see ppl wear there jerseys all the time. :banghead:
I think the cover boy will be either Brett Favre, or Peyton Manning because of the new passing upgrades to the game this year.

Probably not Favre. Manning or Brady are probably the most likely candidates. Keep posting on here man, we need more Packer fans .

i GUARANTEE beyond any doubt, that either Manning or Favre will be on the cover
this years focus is passing...you have to look where you want to pass and qbs w/ higher awareness have a wider view of the field...it says so on ign.com, where there are screenshots
Manning or Favre is gonna have the largest view and be on the cover
btw, does any1 remember the good old days of madden 98 or 2000 where not only was there a cheat to injure someone on every play, but they brought out carts and ambulances on the field?

Madden bought ESPN, so they can't come out with a game...
I should say EA Sports, since supposedly Madden's not coming back.
We should all expect one really sweet football game.
I'm not sure if the rest of the games will be good. I'm guessing there will not be many new features o nthe count of them not having any compotition in football games. If you wanna play football you're gonna have to purchase Madden.

I have a Manning and Shockey jersey...
I do wear a lot of jerseys though, but you can't say that no one wears a white guys jersey.

It's gunna be Peyton Manning on the cover, no doubt in my mind. After his record setting season this is an easy choice.
Did anyone else see the Madden Next Gen commercial during the draft. WOW. Amazing quality, revamped passing mode (about time) Im definitely getting myself the XBOX 360 when it arrives, even if its only to see that amazing game

Nope, they've already decided. It's going to be Donovan McNabb on the cover of 06.

It's already Mcnabb.Thats right.. Donovan McNabb will be on the cover of 06.(Ray Lewis did not break it considering, his team lost the division, didnt make the playoffs, Lewis didn't go pro bowl, and he broke his wrist in the game that decided if his team would goto the playoffs or not)

No. He didn't. Like I said on the first page, it should have been Elam.
