View Full Version : Vince Carter: Should the Raptors Sue his Ass Off

Let me make my case.
Before the trade Vince was averaging 15.9pts a game, certainly not up to Vince standards. After the trade his avg with the Nets is 26.3 PPG. An extreme rise in PPG average for sure.
Back in January he was stupid enough to make comments to John Thompson on TNT that he was doggin it with the Raptors. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/basketball/nba/01/07/bc.bkn.raptors.carter.ap/
The fact that he admitted on tape that he was phoning it in with the Raptors while collecting millions of dollars, coupled with his sudden PPG rise after the trade makes me wonder why the Raptors don't file a lawsuit against him. He's tearing it up as of late recording multiple 40+pt games and you can't tell me Jason Kidd is the reason for 10 extra points in his avg with NJ and TOR.
What do you think should the Raptors set a precedent and sue his ass off. If he was stupid enough to admit it then why not sue him?
Also why has David Stern not fined him for his comments, has he not fined guys for less? When a guy admits he doesn't play hard some nights it calls into question the integrity of the league. Are you gonna pay $70 a ticket to watch a guy who says he don't try some nights? I wonder what linemakers in Vegas made of his comments also. I bet this, bettors who bet the Raptors early this season are none to happy.

If you can get away with it, i am sure you would too, but what he did by not given his team 100% was pretty fucked up, but he was unhappy with them, he wanted to go else where. Maybe there's more to the story we don't know about, but really i could care less.

I think it would be crazy to sue him. Playing basketball is like any other job. If you weren't working hard enough, what does your boss do? Get rid of you. What did the Raptors do? Traded Carter. If that was a suable offense, your saying that a boss can sue an employee for not working hard enough...

Ok lets start here... Jason Kidd could be the reason why he is getting 10+ points a game.. Have you seen Amare play with and without Nash? A HOF PG will open up shots and will get you the ball down low...... When he was with the Craptors sure he didn't give it 100% because that franchise is a joke and never got anyone worth a crap to play beside Vince.. So he was the only person that teams had to double team or even guard....... Look alot of players don't give 100% every night so don't take it as a shock when someone admits it............

lol Craptors I'm gonna start saying that.
I think that Jason Kidd is a big reason why he is doing better but I also think he didn't play hard for the Craptors cus even if he played his best game they would still suck. If I was him I would've done the same thing.

He needed to be on a halfway decent team to get him to try harder. When you're the biggest fish in the small pond there's no reason to try harder.
Exactly... T-Mac is just like his cousin but damn I love T-Mac on my Rox... With a good center in Yao, guard in Sura, and decent power foward in Howard they could be just sneak in at the 5th seed........
At times during a game the Rox have a 38 yr old center, 35yr old shooting guard, 38yr old point guard, 34 yr old shooting guard........ I have to say that Deke is one hell of an old player..

Personally, I think Vince and the Nets are still in their honeymoon phase. Dont worry, VC will come down to earth.

He was dogging it, but the Raptors had scorers on their team like Jalen Rose and Chris Bosch. With the Nets, he is pretty much the only scorer that team has, especially after Jefferson got hurt. It's also a matter of change in environment and playing harder to show people he isn't washed up. If a player doesn't play hard, because he is no longer happy with the situation on a team, you trade him to another team, simple as that.
