I would be pissed and ready to sue if you had your music played before you wanted to release it to the public,
but yeah, they are damn good,
before the black album
whiskey in the jar is pretty nice too.

i am pretty shure that you are all aware of how much i love metallica, ALL of there albums were great in their own respects. i have played their songs for over 2 years now, and i love doing it. mostly because lars is a muscial genius. i mean, he is actually one of the few metal drummers with some knowledge inside his noggin. i mean he loves terry bozzio, so he must know something! lol

Ah yes Metallica, a great band indeed. The song that got me hooked was King Nothing, I remember where, when, and what I was doing when I heard it. I like most of there albums, but I really dont care for the new stuff. I really like the way James sings to. . . . . . . . Oh Yeeeeaaaaah!
the song that got me hooked was "Wherever I May Roam". the rest is history.

Seek and Destroy

Wherever I May Roam
Fade to Black
Call of Ktulu
Nothing Else Matters

master of puppets was a nearly perfect album, no doubt about that. 'lightning' and 'kill em all' were fantastic too.
but everything they did after sucked so much that it makes me wanna throw up for days and days without end. i mean 'the black album'?? or 's&m'??? i guess they just wanted to open new markets, get played in different clubs too. gay clubs that is.
today they have turned into nothing but a pile of shit. farewell to the kings!

Yeah, without a doubt, the original Metallica was the best. My favorite songs are proably: Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Ride the Lightning, and For Whom the Bell Tolls. The song that got me hooked was probably "One."

the original Metallica never put out any releases. you're probably thinking of the Hetfield, Ulrich, Hammet, Burton line up, but that wasn't the original. the original line up was Hetfield, Ulrich, Mustaine (yes, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth), McGovney. that was their first actual line up.

What album do you guys like the most?
Kill 'em all
Ride the lightning
Master of Puppets
Garage days revisited
...And Justice for all
I say Ride the lightning, damn that is a good album.
What band do you guys think sounds the most like old metallica? Most people say megadeath but I do not like them very much,
It's a hard decision between Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning, but I'd have to say Master of Puppets was my favorite album.
Kill 'em all
Ride the lightning
Master of Puppets
Garage days revisited
...And Justice for all
But you did leave a ton of albums out.
Load
Reload
Black Album
St. Anger
Garage Inc.

Garage Inc. There's not a Metallica fan in the world who would consider any one of those as their best album. Black Album was OK, but it began their downward spiral. Metallica's best days are long behind them.

the songs that got me liking metallica were "nothing else matters" and "enter sandman" those 2 are stillmy favorite songs by them...i like their black album...i'm not a really big fan though...i didn't think their latest album was that great...it was ok...but there were like 3 songs only that i liked on it...and they were all a little long for my liking...but that's just me...don't flame me cuz i don't think their the best band in the whole world...but they are a good band and i do enjoy their music...but mostly their older stuff more so than their newer stuff

It has to be said that pretty much all the time i've been a fan (about 7 years) its been like watching that dirty old dog walk round the house before you blow its brains out for smelling sooo bad.
Its also fairly obvious they don't much like their new stuff either, at Leeds this year they pussied out of playing the new shit, and just stuck with stuff people would not immediately tear their wristband off at.

Kirk does use the identical licks in different solos sometimes. but what guitarist doesn't? i don't think he's an awesome player though. good at best

alot of the songs were written by Mustaine on that album, and a couple on Ride the Lightning, the Call of Ktulu (spelled Cthulu wrong for some reason) and some other one. and on Kill 'em All Kirk ripped off Mustaine's solos. and Mustaine didn't have anything to do with the production, besides the songs they ripped off from him, because he was pissed that they used the music he wrote and he told them not too. the thing about Metallica is, it seemed like they'd walk over anybody's back to get big. to move out of L.A. they used McGovney's money and kicked him out when they got there. and Kirk's too good to rejoin with Exodus for one night for the Paul Baloff memorial show. Exodus is the reason he got into Metallica and he's arrogant enough to not even pay tribute to the man that got him where he is, which is Baloff

i really dont like the st. anger cd that much at all. I like every album up until then..they are truly one of the greatest.
i recently went to a metallica concert w/ godsmack opening. Once metallica came out, james hetfield asked the crowd if they wanted to hear st. anger..and he all hyped it up and stuff. then the crowd booed and everyone was chanting NO! hah it was pretty funny.

Metallica is in my opinion one of the greatest metal bands ever. The first time I heard master of puppets I loved it and was hooked. Ride The Lightning is my favorite album and I like all the others except Reload and St. Anger.

Metallica is my all time favorite band...probably always will be. But I always seperate their albums into "new" Metallica, and "old" Metallica...
New Metallica...St. Anger
S&M (Live with SF Symphony)
Garage Inc. (Disc 1)
Reload
Load
Black Album
Old Metallica...Live Shit Binge and Purge (Live Album)
And Justice for All
Garage Days Re-revisited
Master of Puppets
Ride the Lightning
Kill 'em All
Garage Days DemoNow, I love the hell out of every song by old Metallica. All of them are masterpieces as far as I'm concerned. Metallica is basically a local band for me...they got their start very close to where I live. They had very simplistic music...but this is one of the things that made them great! Hammits solos weren't simple though, Dude's a bad ass! Lars on drums...just awsome. I missed Burton, but I liked Jason a lot...he had a shit load of energy. And Hetfields voice...legendary...
I like some of new Metallica, but I just look at them as a different band here. The Black Album was good, I like a lot of the songs off of it, but this marks the beginnings of their decent into inferiority. A couple songs off load and re-load were okay, although not many. They didn't write a single song on Garage Inc. Disc 1, but there was some good songs though. I enjoyed S&M, although it ain't Metallica. St. Anger was a steaming pile of shit...fuck that hollow snare, and pathetic chord progressions. Very little musical quality.
They are still a good show in concert, and I would still recomend it.

They're coming out with a movie on Metallica? Did I read correctly? If they did, it'd just be like one of those biogarphies on the "Greastest Bands of All Time," wouldn't it?

Metallica...where to start. Well they are the biggest sell-outs ever. Used to love them but now their music is so bad that I would rather even listen to Creed before them (and I hate Creed). The Black album started the downward spiral and with St. Anger i just had to laugh. So my one question is this. Are the metal, pop, or nu-metal which is what i think they were going for with St. Anger. Sell outs. Plus you have the whole Napster issue which just solidified that they are just all about getting your money and putting out shit. Whiskey in the Jar-O. My 2 yr old could write that.
i love metellica, apart from the st.anger album.thats the only one i dont like.i love enter sandman, whiskey in the jaro, the memory remains, unforgiven, nothing els matters and 'one'

I can't stand Metallica anymore, their new stuff is just horrible, especially St.Anger. They use to be my favorite, ever since Load came out they just haven't been the same.
Suppose they lost the talent when they lost their hair.
I don't want to diss them because they used to be a band I respected.
I didn't like the music but I respected the band, but I think they should just retire and understand that it's not working anymore.
They earned their millions it's time to go home because from now on, it could only get worse and more fans will start to dislike them because of the fierce appearance on MTV. I have friends that loved them but after all that St. Anger shit they stopped, claiming the music was really not the same.
They had a good career but it's time to let go and let the fans remember them as what they always were.

Yes they are a bunch of sell outs nowadays, but they had a great influence back in the day...when they were good. I still listen to the older stuff.

Kirk sucks compared to Dave Mustaine. I am so glad Dave remade HIS song Battery and out solo'd Kirk it was just perfect. Kirk is just there because Dave got kicked out for doing to much drugs and doing to many stupid things.

Kirk is simply average to above-average to begin with.
