This (http://uk.biz.yahoo.com/050215/323/fcing.html) is the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever seen.

yeah, but i can sortof see their point. there is evidence that the tsunami disaster could have been avoided, or at least lessened, because they had enough warning to evacuate at least most of the ppl....i say that, although it may not be true, that they are entitled to know if it is.

I just am tired of people wanting to blame everything that happens on someone. And why the hell are they suing the hotel, that is fucked up.

EDIT: In honesty I am surprised it took this long for someone to file a lawsuit. I knew it would happen.

They said the suit was not, at present, designed to demand compensation but to uncover evidence that would prove negligence.

I guess they are just trying to see if people were doing their job, or playing Pong on the monitors instead.

I think if people in Thailand are paying people to forecast such things, and it isn't done, they should have to right to investigate it.

Yeah I don't have a problem if it stays this way, but you know they are going to try to get money out of this.

Some radicals think we embedded nuclear warheads on the fault.. of course there would be the huge plume of water from the massive number of nukes needed to make a 9.0.. and radioactivity... their dumbasses.

I think they should make their own stupid alert system. Honestly, if all these countries don't like the US involving itself in their affairs, why are they getting mad at us for not telling them they had a problem? I understand the situation is different, but it just seems there's no pleasing these people. We want to get involved and help other nations with their problems and we're wrong. The one time we "might" have "neglected" to do something to help, and we're wrong.

I just think it's funny they only want our input when it's something they want to hear.

The article says that a handful of Germans and Austrians are filing the suit not people from Thailand, so this group had no contribution to the Tsunami Early warning system.

the countries in that region did not join our tsunami warning system.

But it's not the 'natives' who are behind the lawsuit, it's some German and Austrian tourists. Ironic that the people who's lives were truly destroyed are busy picking up the pieces and trying to find closure, if that's possible, while some rich white bastards who had a bad vacation are filing lawsuits. Go figure.

Once again and true to form, the world
comes through with another amazing
slap in the face for tha US! I'm just soooo
GLAD I helped raise the money & personnel
to go to the aid of these folks!

"Festung Amerika" is looking better and better
all the time! Next time they can take care of
themselves, by themselves.

I will certainly NEVER raise another DIME for
AID to ANYWHERE!!!!

I really can't put into words how much this
PISSES ME OFF!

That's lunacy shade...you're a madman. What really pissed me off was an article I was reading on CNN some time ago an it said that Indonesian official had announced that they would allow U.S. aid workers into the country but they had to announce where they would be and they had certain time limits, etc. etc....that is right about the time we shoudl have politely told them to go fuck themselves.

Even if they had been given advanced warnings, where the fuck are people from goddamned Sri Lanka, et al, gonna go? Are they gonna hop in their V-8 cars, get to the nearest boat, and then sail 500 miles away from the affected areas??

How long you think it's gonna be before somebody try's to drag god into a court room and blame him for not stopping natural disasters.

You know what? We cutoff all the fucking money we're sending those Nike sneaker makers and they'll wake the fuck up and stop this stupid lawsuit. This is why I'm glad I didn' send money. Apparently I'm an American, so I helped cause the enormous wave of miscontent. :banghead:

Sounds good to me, but the lawsuit is not being filed by those little bastards but by some tourists from Europe

Or they could just seek higher ground? You know, maybe some of them would have cleared the beaches and gone inside the nearest multilevel building? Of course many people would have had no chance even with an alert but at least SOME people might have been saved. A warning is better than no warning.

That being said, this lawsuit is idiotic. In fact from what I've heard, some seismologists DID try to contact Indonesian officials after they first detected the earthquake only to reach their voice-mails because they were on holiday.

News flash:
My crystal balls working. Theres no court in the world thats NOT GOING TO THROW THIS OUT AS FRIVILOUS LAWSUIT.

So why do you think that.

Every major country in the world has a Richter scale.
Austrian and Germans huh ?
What countries are closer to Thailand....Germany & Austria....or the USA ?

Bangkok to Frankfurt ...5575 miles
Bangkok to New York ...11401 miles

Ladies in gentleman of the jury....Thats over twice the distance !!!
It took LONGER for the shock waves to travel to the USA !
Sue their own government for not protecting them.

Whats really stupid on the attroneys part(s)
Japan has the greatest tsunami warning system in the world.
How come they didnt try to sue the Japanese government 2800 miles away?
That may have worked...Silly Aryans!

Here's NOAA's link (http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2004/s2358.htm) with a timeline of events following the earthquake. Two problems with that lawsuit.
1) The countries affected by the tsunami aren't part of an early warning system so NOAA naturally didn't have any bouys in the area.
2) The scientists who initially witnessed the earthquake thought that it might trigger a tsunami and warned people in the region. The problem is, who do you call to warn of an approaching tsunami in a country without a tsunami early warning system? The President? Lifeguards?

You know the funny thing was the Pacific Sunami warning buero was calling people like mad in the Indian ocean region trying to warn them and no one would act on their warnings. It was even documented on the Discovery channel during their tsunami week.
