Who is your pick for NBA MVP as of right now? I would vote for Lebron. He is averaging 25, 7 and 7 right now, the only player in the NBA. He's actually closer to 8 assists a game than 7. He took the Cavs from 17 wins, to 35 last year, to already 30 wins this year. He's fourth in the league in points in the paint, second in steals per game, tied for fourth in assists per game, first in fast break points per game and seventh in scoring. When you look at assists, keep in mind he is the Cavs first offensive option, and plays on a team with absolutely no outside shooters, so what he has done is amazing. The other person who would have a vote IMO is Nash. He is leading the league in assists, but it's not that hard to do when you have Richardson, Stoudamire and Marion.

If I could vote for the entire starting five of Detroit, I would, but since I really can't do that, I also vote for Lebron. He will one day pass Michael Jordan for greatest player of all time.

He is averaging almost 28 points a game, 6 assists and 6 rebounds. He's also top 10 in efficiency rating

Because of his impact on the Lakers staff.

Steve Nash continues to perform well and he makes his entire team better.

I think it has got to be Steve Nash. The way he sets up scoring opportunities for his teammates is incredible. Without him they are just a mediocre team. If it isn't going to Nash then it will be LeBron, but Lebron will definitely get his fair share of MVPs as he continues to play.

Why isn't Duncan on that list!? Duncan is leading the best team in the league but he doesn't get much credit because he is quiet and "boring."
1. Duncan
2. Steve Nash
3. LeBron
4. Amare
5. Shaq

In a few years, we'll be talking about the next John Stockton as a Mid-Season MVP...

I am going with shaq, look what he has done with the miami heat, they have the best record in the east, they are now contenders in getting to the finals. I know steve nash has changed the suns around too, but you got to give it to shaq, everyone saying he was too old and too fat and that he wouldnt help the heat, they were already playoff contenders b4 he came, but now they have a dominate center who will get them over the top, that's why i am going with shaq. I agree with LiquidorIce, i think duncan should be up there too, he don't get enough credit for what he does with the spurs.

Amare Stoudemire and Ray Allen should be on that list as well. They've both contributed an extreme amount to there team's turnarounds. My vote thought was for Nash, just because of how good he makes the players around him.

Amare is great, but he doesnt' really have a chance at mvp. This is his burst out year, but it is only occuring after the arrival of Nash. Nash is not the primary reason he is playing well, but the fact he came the year Amare is having a career year is not going to help in this category. He's also a big man and Shaq and Duncan deserve the award a lot more than Amare.
If I had to give the award right now, I'd give it to Shaq.
1.Shaq
2.Duncan
3.James
4.Nowitski (distant 4th)
5.Nash (distant 5th)

I dont see how anyone could argue against lebron being mvp, he is that entire team, people say nash cuz of how bad phoenix was when he went out. Well i can assure you that the cavs wouldnt be much better if u took lebron out of the equation. I dont see lebron getting it this year though, i think alot of the voters are mad that everyone is already saying he is the best player and is the next jordan, just as we saw last year when he was denied a all star spot. So in my opinion I say lebron but i bet shaq will get it.

Lebron.

i want to say lebron just because of his style.... he will get his team started in the firts half... with 6 assists and low points, then he takes over when needs too. LeBron is a perfect example of an unselfish player.
for you cleveland fans... doesn't it feel great having people talk so highly about something from cleveland? this has been a long time coming... also../. how about that SI cover :)

I think Lebron puts up those big numbers and makes it look easy. That might actually hurt him.

1. Nash---Because he is "MOST VALUABLE" on his team. Without him Suns can't win.
2.Duncan/Shaq---Duncan is consistent but he has A LOT of help (meaning he's not the only "valuable" player) and the Spurs can win without him. Shaq because hell he has made Miami top in the east but with the help of Wade.
As for Lebron he won't be MVP for a few years or until the Cavs are able to contend for a Championship. Right now though they have no chance.
This was kinda hard being from San Antonio and a huge spurs fan, also your poll sucks.

So you're saying you'd pick Z over Amare Stoudamire? Or even Shawn Marion? Not to mention Quentin Richardson.

And the Suns have a chance at winning the title? When did this happen? And how everyone is talking about how bad the Suns would be without Nash, the Cavs would be even worse off without Lebron, we lost to the freaking Knicks without him.

I would pick Z over Marion and Richardson, but not over Stoudamire. And all I was saying by that was that Z is a great player and people were forgetting all about that. The Cavs without LeBron are in far worse trouble than the Suns without Nash...

Elton Brand has quietly put together an awesome season...
I still wish I would have gotten that Dirk jersey when I saw it a few years ago, cause now I can't find one..
And note the 3 Cavs in the top 28, including Drew Gooden, who's right behind Boozer. He thought the Cavs would falter without him, and now he's on one of the worst teams in the West...

Not to mention his owner said he wasn't worth all that money.
But to get this back on topic, I think Dirk does deserve more consideration for MVP, but at this point, he's still behind LeBron and Nash just based off of the impact they've had on their teams success.

After some careful stat analysis, I believe LeBron, not Nash as I have previously mentioned, should be MVP. I was not aware of his low PPG, and realized LeBron deserves it more. Without him, where would the Cavs be? Look at his stats here: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/lebron_james/index.html?nav=page
I knew LeBron was good of course, since I watch him every night, but I just didn't realize that he was already great.

Without Nash, Amare is just another young player... Hell he can't even shot 5ft from the bucket..... He gets most of his points from lame dunks... Nash has to be the MVP because the Suns would be where they were at last year without him..........
