play music through the sound card? WTF

I'm not quite sure about that, but some chatrooms have the ability to play music you play on your pc. I believe winamp is involved, you might need a plug in.

Run an audio cable from your output system (soundcard) to your input system (microphone). This only works on a couple soundcards.

I dunno why you wanna do this for but anyway on some cheap cards it doesn't work so well it just sounds like you have a mic upto a loud stereo all crackly and shit hard to understand

open your volume control
go to options
click properties
click recording
click ok
check mixer
if you do not see mixer, select it after you click properties
this will record from your soundcard rather than a microphone or anything
that's how i always use soundboards, or anything i want to play on yahoo chat
