I've had a lot of discussion with people around here about Favre and what he should do this year. What do you guys think? I know about the past performances in the playoffs have been anything but good, but he still produces during the season and gets the Packers to the playoffs year in and year out. I know people think getting there doesn't mean really anything if you don't win and go all the way, but my argument is that he's still produces and he still is one of the better QB's in the league. Thoughts?

I think he should play this season, seeing as how he's pretty much already committed to it, and then retire.

Favre's a great player and I think one of the best QB's of all time, but it's time for him to go.

Just like Drew Bledsoe, play this season with the Cowboys, and then leave, it's time for the new generation of QB's to make a name for themselves.

This next year should be his last.

I would say he should retire now, but I like him too much to say that.

Nowadays, he's a jekyl and hyde kind of player. He could look like Peyton Manning one day, and Luke McCown the next. And lately, a lot of those off games are coming more often. He's on the downslope of his career, but with the NFC where its at now, he can still do damage in one more season.

Dont retire brett, whose gonna throw all them interceptions to the shitty vikings defense, and then tell us the weak excuses after the game?

brett sucks that is all

Fans and announcers may provide the excuses, but he doesn't say shit about his poor performances. He accepts his mistakes.

I disagree, Brett is an awesome QB yet he has worn out his NFL welcome. He'll still be considered great, even if he dosen't play this year.

I think it's his time. He reached the top of the mountain, and now he is on his way downward. I know it is hard for guys like him and Rice and Smith to retire, since they love the game, but they have to know when they should stop. On the other side against that, he is the best QB option for GB, and he's definitely not hurting them. Either way, I think he should retire...

since black qb's are in, green bay. Sign Jeff Blake, Akili Smith, Kordell Stewart or Quincy Carter and join the in-crowd

If they sign Kordell, they must really be hurting.

I think Craig Nall would start over Kordell...

Off topic, but why won't Kordell just switch to a WR, or even return punts?...

Even though I think he should retire, my feeling is that the Pack will amaze everyone this year and get at least to the Super Bowl, and maybe even win it. Seems like he should at least have one more playoff run to end his incredible career.

They guy is so inconsistant, it's hard to watch. Back to the thread...why wouldn't you want Favre to retire? The Vikings would easily win the division then.

I think he should have one last go. He's the greatest QB of my lifetime IMO, and I think he should retire with grace.

This is gonna sound nuts...
If I was Mike Sherman,I'd say:
Take the season off.

His wife, Deana has cancer...the kemo and radiation are really taking there toll on both.
Brett Favre is the mortar that holds the Packers organization together.
That might be the best thing to do.

The maybe "I'll be back" is better than "see ya"
For those of you not privy to live in the Dairy State...

The day Favre retires... funeral homes will be doing a brisk business from all the suicides for days to come.

He just may go another season....maybe two ?

Personally...Hes gonna be one tough act to follow.
I'm grateful he got us another superbowl in my lifetime.

What ever Brett FAVRE does...

I know what you mean man. Even though I've lived in WI for only 3 years, the state absolutely would go into mourning if he retired. Brett Favre is Wisconsin. He our generation's quarterback and we're so lucky that we saw the guy play.

I'll second that
 Brett Favre

Favre should not retire, i think he still has atleast 2 or 3 good season, he had 2 ok season, but now the family problems are past him, and i think this year they have a great chance at going to the super bowl. It's going to be a show down against the Eagles and packers.

wow...2000 si is one of the few non-homosexual eagles fans in the world. He actually gives props to the Pack. :)

No, he was good at UK. With the Browns and their lack of an offensive line, he sucked.

They released him because somebody convinced Butch Davis and other management that Kelly Holcomb and Jeff Garcia could carry the team.

And thankfully, Davis, other management, and Garcia are gone now.

I voted yes only because I respect Favre too much to see him go out as a failure. He should go out in a blaze of glory. And I don't want to see him ruin it.

But he's me favorite all time QB!
