Finally the browns hired the right people, Phil Savage is good. The off season is going great so far, but Mangini was a major loss, I didnt really care for the move on Grantham, 6 years of NFL Experience.
Who do we take with the 3rd pick if we dont trade? *Jones, Rolle, Johnson, move down and get Ware, Barrons ?*
Ty Law Are Samari Rolle?
Warren, Green Trade Rumors?

I love Derrick Johnson, check out this highlight video
http://mackbrown-texasfootball.com/pages/videoclips/2004_05/111104_johnson.html
He's fast and atheltic, he's only weakness seems to be that he can't wrap up all the time. As for Law and Rolle, I think we should make an attempt at one of them, but I doubt we;ll get either of them. What free agent wants to come to Cleveland? Hopefully we can trade Warren and Green in a package together that way we can get an additional 2nd round pick or so, which will be huge for us.

To be honest, I don't think we should go after him. He's aging, and is coming off a very severe injury. Not to mention he hasn't started walking yet, so who knows how long it will take for him to be back. If we can get him at a reasonable rate, then yes I do want him. I think we should focus on a guy like Fred Smoot though...

Does it really matter? The Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals are all going to compete for that division title, while the Browns will continue to get out of double digit losses. Your additions wont matter none the less.

Andruzzi, is a cheap great addition! Im wishing for kareem mckenzie! Also be nice to sign Pheifer, Brown, and Law for dirt cheap and have them show how to play as team. For the guy saying why does it matter, it dont. Theres talent in cleveland and savage is going to build through the draft. Hes just adding veterans to make the team competitive, we got 2-3 years until we see something. Savage is great, smart and not going to get into free agency like signing Anthony Henry like dallas did.
The Bengals are going anywhere they have some salary cap issues, And there defense sucks.

From my opinion it looks like we have a chance at signing law, with the chiefs going after rolle, henry to dallas, and the raiders maxd out. Why not bring in ty law, hes a role model and well only be here 1-2 years before he retires. Yet again, cleveland is not trying to win a championship through Free Agency, its going to take some time and we have to patient.

Salary cap issues? Maybe so, they still have a better offense, and well, defense than the Browns. Maybe you're right, the Bengals wont compete with the Steelers and Ravens for the division title, they'll continue to remain out of double digit losses, just what the Browns are still trying to get out of.

ORCHARD PARK, New York (Ticker) - Shopping for a veteran quarterback to back up J.P. Losman, the Buffalo Bills on Friday signed Kelly Holcomb.
Terms were not disclosed.
After releasing Drew Bledsoe for salary cap purposes, Bills coach Mike Mularkey elevated Losman, the team's first-round pick in 2004, to the starting job. But Mularkey also emphasized that he wanted a veteran with starter's experience to serve as the backup.
Holcomb, 31, spent the last four years with the Cleveland Browns and started 12 of 19 games. In one of his two starts last season, Holcomb threw for 413 yards and five touchdowns in a 58-48 win at Cincinnati on November 28.
In 2003, Holcomb beat out Tim Couch, the first overall pick in the 1999 draft, for the starting job in training camp and threw for 1,797 yards and 10 touchdowns in 10 games.
Holcomb is best known for passing for 429 yards in his first playoff start - a 36-33 loss at Pittsburgh in a January 2003 AFC wild card game.
Holcomb spent five years as a backup with Indianapolis before signing with the Browns in 2001.

Dilfer will be a Stop-gap solution.
Obviously our offense will focus on the run game and the TE's.
I think he is about on the same level as Holcomb but is WAY better than McCown.

Perhaps Dilfer can lead a team to another Superbowl, oh wait, the last time he did, that team actually HAD a defense. Hahahah, you Brownies are hilarious. Getting excited over Trent frigging Dilfer, and you think you guys will CONTEND? With the running game and tight end? Right, and Lee Suggs and Kellon "I'ma fucking Soldier, but wounded in battle is my thing" Winslow is going to lead you somewhere? Keep dreaming Brownies. Maybe if the Browns were in the NFC West, you would probably contend, and place 3rd most likely.

You never know, the browns could do something this year. Look at Trent Green, when his job was taken over at st. louis by Warner they thought his career was over, then he got a second chance at KC and it seems he's doing a good job, the cheifs just need a D, maybe T. Dilfer will do the same for the browns.

Another big Browns addition:
Cleveland Browns: Unrestricted offensive guard Cosey Coleman, a five-year veteran who had played his entire career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reached a contract agreement with the Browns, ESPN.com has learned.
Coleman becomes the second guard to join the Browns in free agency in less than a week. The team signed former New England starter Joe Andruzzi to a four-year, $9 million contract last week. The refurbishing of the interior of the line is not surprising, given that new Browns general manager Phil Savage recently used the term "dire straits" to refer to the situation.
A former University of Tennessee standout, and a second-round pick in the 2000 draft, Coleman agreed to a two-year contract that, with incentives, can be worth up to $3 million. It includes a signing bonus of $500,000. Coleman, 26, visited with Cleveland officials over the weekend and then met Monday with representatives of the Green Bay Packers.
In five seasons, Coleman started in 63 games and appeared in 71 contests overall. Most of his playing time was at right guard.

Don't be surprised if the Browns win the division. This is the first time since they came back to Cleveland that we have a solid offensive line. With a set running back in place, that helps them a lot, with William Green and Suggs splitting time, it was confusing for them and made their job a lot harder, because they are two different types of runners, with different ways of blocking for each. Now we also have Kellen Winslow back also. Basically we have two drafts this year, our last years first two rounds plus this years draft. And when we draft DJ with our first pick after switching to a 3-4 our defense will be the best we have had in years.

Alright, you obviously don't know shit about sports. First of all, its Belichick. He left Cleveland after they moved to Baltimore in 1995. Cleveland must suck so bad that a 3 time Super Bowl winning DC would come here to coach us. Not to mention some of the players we got, guys like Andruzzi coming from the Pats and Baxter, who's only 26 and willing to play the prime of his career in Cleveland.
It appears that he's a Steeler fan, hence his terrible grammar. If you are a fan of the other 31 teams in the league, this is what he was trying to say:
What do you mean they finally hired the right personel? I thought we came to the conclusion that the Browns suck, esepecially after Belichick left and became one of the best coaches ever. He would have became better quicker, but he started his career in cleveland. I think that means the Browns fucking suck. He couldn't do what he wanted in Cleveland, therefore he didnt have success.

I just heard the Brownies are set to get Reuben Draughns from Denver for Ekuban and Mike Myers. I'm not so sure about this. I mean Ebenezer could come in handy with the physical wellness problems we seem to be plagued with. And I don't think starting up another running back controversy is such a good thing either.
TheDawgPound72
03-30-2005, 11:05 PM
Ekuban's too small to play in the 3-4, which also makes me wonder why Denver got him, since their switching to the 3-4 too. Myers didn't really play much, so I can't really comment on that. I like the addition of the Droughns though, even if he's a system running back. We need a little Curtis Martin/LaMont Jordan backfield going, and yes, I know Jordan's a Raider now. It also makes William Green expandable, who I still really wouldn't mind hanging on to. I mean, the value won't be much since this is a draft full of RBs, and there's still some good FA pickups available, so we'd probably have to release him.

I think this trade is a sign that the signing of Marquis Douglas is immanent.
Lets hope that Droughns was not just a product of Denver's system.

He hyped himself up too much after the Pro Bowl rosters were announced a few years back saying that he should have been on it. To be honest, he shouldn't have. He had a good year, but then he had to act like he was one of the best in the NFL... Last year, Davis benched him, so that's why his numbers are down, but when he played, he played decent. He was cut since he was one of those character issue players. We got Brian Russell from the Vikes after releasing him, so it's all good. Anyone we lost this year, we replaced them with someone just as good or better. We still need some more picks though, especially on Day 1. I'd be happy even if we got a lot of Round 3 picks, since this draft's class doesn't have many great prospects, but there's a lot of good ones.
