I love system of a down. They really tweak my nipples. And they deserve a thread! Should be a change from t***!
Theyre fuckin great live! and their songs are really catchy. If you know what I mean.

I'm not gonna vote because I love all three. SOAD kicks considerable ass. They're one of the few groups in recent years to have an original sound all their own. I never get tired of listening to them. But I still won't let them touch my nipples.

same here
Same here. I don't have Steal this Album!, but I listen to my friend's whenever I'm over his house and I think it's great.
What's everyone's favorite song of theirs? It's a hard decision for me, but I think that Aerials would definitely be right up there.

Any anti-war person is unhuman. If they really wanted peace, they would be on the pro war side demanding Saddam disarm and live up to 12 years of UN resolutions. When your out there marching out of partizan and for hatred of the president, that is unamerican.

When your out there marching out of partizan and for hatred of the president, that is unamerican. Now it not just un-American, it's unhuman??!! I supported the war at first too. But then I got a good look at what was going on. There are no weapons of mass destruction. The report about Saddam that trying to obtain uranium which was one of the main justifications for the war, turned out to be false. Iraq was no threat to us at all. UN resolution? Please....If you want, I'll post a list of a couple of hundred of UN resolutions that we choose to ignore, including one denouncing the genocide going on in the Sudan. Don't reply with any bullshit about the poor suffering Iraqi people. There are oppressed people all over the world and we don't give a fuck about any of them. Don't mention terrorism either. Iraq had NO connection to 9/11. Saudi Arabia did. Fifteen out of nineteen of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi. Yet the Bush administration is still close friends with the Saudi royal family. The White House has censored documents exposing the Saudi involvement in 9/11. That's not a rumor from some paranoid website, the Bush administration was forced to admit it. Dick Cheney's company, Halliburton, was awarded the multi-BILLION contract to rebuild Iraq's oil industry. This contract was awarded without accepting bids from other companies. Open your eyes. And before you call me un-American: I don't just talk about loving my country. I proved it by serving in the US Navy for four years.

I wouldn't bother.
This is a music forum, not a current events forum. If anti-war views are going to be discussed, can we at least keep it in the current events forum?
Anyway, I don't think that a band's political views really matter until they do something stupid, like when the Dixie Chicks publicly criticized Bush and his policies. Their views are just that, THEIR views; the only thing that really concerns me is whether I like their music or not.

surley we can talk about the meanings of the lyrics and what they have to do with the world today? Music is expression of self, and its usually influenced by events in our lives. I love system not only because they have a good sound, but they're peace lovers. Well, at least thats what I have picked up. The lyrics to boom imply to me that we have too much money spent on kill people rather than preserving life.

How rich drug users go to rehab and poor ones go to prison. But that wasn't my point. I won't condemn a band just because I disagree with their opinions. I can't stand Rage Against the Machine's politics, but I still think they're a great band.

Holy shit, his screenname slipped right by me! Thanks for pointing that out, Stevi. Linkin Park is probably the worst band to come out in the last ten years. The music opinions of someone who likes them enough to have "Meteora" in his screenname shouldn't be taken seriously.

yeah soad kicks major ass. i dont really have a favourite song. i love them all, mostly because they have a main focal point that involves the world around us. for example. any band can write a song about how "this one guy loves this other chick but the other chick dosnt love the guy" (ok that confused me a little, but you get my point.) soad goes and writes politically active songs. i love that.
and their drummer is a fucking maniac. i love his shit. it is soo dificult to play!
and by the way. soad is supposed to have another album released in early 2004, but it might get pushed back

SOAD kicks major ass. My favorite song is probably either "Sugar" or "Deer Dance." "Storaged" is another great one. It's a short song and total nonsense. If you never heard it (It's on a japanese album) download it. All three albums are amazing and I can't really see one being any better then the other. I think I'll just say Toxicity, because thats the album that got me into them.

Im talkin to you fags who listen to this System of a down shit. What in the hell was this band thinking when they write their songs. I can make better music from my ass. No seriously, If i put a tape recorder next to my ass, i bet i could make a better song than System of a Shit. Jesus, listen to good music you fags.

You know, it's a scientifically accepted fact that males who constantly call other people fags do it to hide the fact that they themselves fear that they're really gay. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Stop lying to yourself and go suck a cock.

I'd say System of a Down. That was their first album (we know) and it was the first one I got by them. It had a much different sound than that of the latter two albums as well.
Songs like Peephole, Soil, Suggestions, dDevil, War?, etc., just seem to have a certain feeling that I believe other songs do not. What the hell am I saying. SOAD is my favorite band on the planet, and I've seen em live a few time. I'd have to say them at OzzFest was the best though. Doesn't get much better.
I like alot of the unreleased tracks too. Marmalade, Honey, Johnny, Metro, Dam, Blue, they're all incredible.

i love toxicity. it is in my CD player now. SOAD is my favourite band in the world. i can see why people may not like their STYLE of music, but it is wrong for people to say stuff about the opinion of other people. (if you didnt get it, opinion=lyrics)

System is fucking great. I think I like Steal this Album (mainly because of the reference to "Steal This Book." By Abbie Hoffman) My favorite song of theirs is P.L.U.C.K. which speaks about the Armenian Genocide of 1915. I think they are brilliant. I also like Rage, but that is getting off topic. After 9-11 every single Rage Against the Machine's songs were deemed questionable and had been taken off the air for awhile by all Clear Channel Communications radio stations. Absolute bullshit. There I go again, getting all irrelevant on everyone.

my favorite is system of a down.
favorite songs: Ddevil, Soil, War, Darts, ego brain, mr. jack, ADD, needles, Prison song, Ariaels (sp?)
favorite songs to play: (bass) ariaels (sp?) prison song, Ddevil, soil.
if you haven't noticed the bass in thier songs is really simple, but played so incredibly fast its insane. you gotta give shavo some cred. by buddy plays drums and we always have an aweme time playing system songs together.
i just bought a system of a down shirt that looks like one of those DARE shirts. across the front it says SOAD, written in the same font and style as DARE shirts are. then below it it says "dare to think freely" it rules.

System of a Down has basically brought me into music from around grade 7 or 8 when i first heard chopsuey. I cant really decide but Toxicity was a fucking amazing album :bang: Its not just one good song, they are ALL great tunes, deer dance being my personal favourite along wiht prison song. The self titled album was also amazing producing smash hits like Spiders.. which i saw on conan one night and i was like :thud: .. But i dont think steal this album was the greatest success it was Awesome but didnt compare to the other 2.. but it was still awesome. :bang: rather.. Boom..

I own Toxicity, and it's the shit, so to speak. And all the reviews I've read have said it's the shit. And it's what? 2 or 3 times platinum. So I think I can say that, without being familiar with the other two. I will definitely get the debut sometime soon, and maybe Steal This Album - which is generally regarded as good, but easily not as good as the other two.

Thanks, but I'm just gonna download a few good ones so I end up buying the album. Cause if I get the whole thing, I'll either have to waste 15 bucks, or know that I'm a hypocrite. ;) But thanks a lot.
Comment on Boom!: The part where he says, in just normal speaking, "Nobody gives a FUCK!" is just hilarious for some reason. I'm not surprised that song ended up on the Farenheit 9-11 soundtrack.
Oh holy shit. No wonder there are some old ass names in this thread. It's an old ass thread! 2003! How'd that happen?
And yeah, SOAD is great. But I can't think of them without thinking of this girl I used to go to school with. This was only a year ago, but a year ago I didn't care for SOAD. First off this girl was gay. And secondly, she was ugly. I mean ugly even as lesbians go! She had some skin condition, which wasn't her fault, but it sure didn't help. She used to wear a black Toxicity hoodie to school like 3 days a week it seemed.
