Every year there's the 6+ seeded team that goes to the 16 or even the 8. Who will it be this year? I'd say my most likely choice is Maryland. They kick ass against good teams and suck dick against bad ones, so they're hardest game could be in the first round. I also think Texas Tech could surprise a lot of people.

I'd say Pacific can surprise a few teams in the Tourney.

Being a Terps fan I'm inclined to say Maryland but I'm leaning towards UCLA, maybe? Just a hunch.

If Maryland gets in, they'd probably be down there, so I'd go with them.

You asked for it, here it is:
DeVaSTaTioN's 2005 Cinderellas.
1. Southern Illinois (Always dangerous)
2. Gonzaga (Until they leave the WCC, they will always be a Cinderella).
3. Indiana (If they beat Minnesota, they're in.)
4. Florida (Donovan's pretty boys are finally playing tough).
5. Pacific (They're ranked No. 16 for a reason).
6. Eastern Kentucky (I'm from Eastern Kentucky, there's a smidge of bias here).

I realized right after I said Maryland that they're still definitely on the bubble. I personally don't think there's any question when you've given Duke half of their losses, but I'm not quite sure what the guys who pick it look for. I'm hoping they give MD an 8 or 9 seed so they can knock out a 1 in the second round.

I second that, kind sir.
Villanova = this year's St. Joe's (or maybe even better)

You are so right, I totally forgot about Villanova.
Probably because I picked them to make it back to the tournament in the pre-season, but you're right. They could go far.
Another team nobody's talking about is Mississippi State. If they can stay healthy, they can make a good run.

They're good this year. The reason they lost so many games down the stretch is because they lost their two best players (Winsome Frazier and Larence Roberts) to injury. Both are back now, and the Bulldogs can surprise some people.

Maryland's in. The bracketologist on ESPN, Joe Lunardi said they are a lock and he is almost never wrong. I don't think Pacific can really be considered a Cinderella, they've lost two games all season.

Winthrop, i wish, but they could maybe win 1 game before their 18 game win streak ends.

Vermont Catamounts.
Fear Taylor Coppenroth(2nd leading scorer in the nation).

Oakland. Their 12 win season was simply to get their opponents to let their guard down. It was all over once they got in.

Bah! Not my problem if you don't appreciate second-rate humor.
As for real Cinderellas...
I like Charlotte a lot, but they've hit a bit of a rough spell. If they can pull out of that, I think they have a chance to surprise some people. Villanova's also got a good chance, but I don't know how much of a 'cinderella' they will be, since they'll probably be seeded pretty highly. Personally, my pick is Vermont...true they haven't played the hardest of schedules, but Coppenrath (as mentioned above) is an absolute monster.

I've said all season, Pacific is going to come out of no where and make a 20+ win season.
I'm saying Pacific in the Sweet 16, maybe further.

Shouldn't be a problem considering they lucked out and got Washington as their one seed to play in the second round.

Im looking at pacific too. I think they might surprise some people. Villanova is going to do the same thing. Even though it would be a cinderella, i think a lot of people are looking for them to go pretty far.

I agree. On my bracket I have them losing to North Carolina in the championship game, which is still farther than most people think they are gonna go.

tech can beat gonzaga and well that's it for 6 and up making it to the sweet 16, though it'd be funny if nc state beat uconn 10% of folks think it's possible, which isn't as bad as some of the other picks I've seen floating about

I think that Old Dominion will beat Michigan State first round. I have them losing to whoever they play next round, (I think it's Syracuse).
I have Utah playing Duke in the elite eight. Andrew Bogut is one of the best players in all of college basketball. J.J. would be... If he could do more than shoot.

JJ can do more than shoot.
He can get away with throwing punches, grabbing jerseys, pushing off, cussing, tackling...
I hate JJ. :banghead:
